Da Reds thread

Would be really surprised if the reds didn't make the playoffs. These past few games have obviously not been your best stretch, but pretty much everybody but Bruce has gone cold this stretch. Bound to happen during a 162 game stretch, sure things will pick back up.

we have an idiot coach and a really hard second half schedule. without a trade for a big bat and a change in the rotation to get cingrani in we will be home for october. so far the team is underachieving. i would say 35% chance to make the playoffs. with a good manager 65%, but we don't have that.

wow there is a good chance by the time we come off this west coast trip we maybe out of the race. looks like time for football season.

yep but the cards and pirates are better than the reds. don't see them pulling it out this year. there second half schedule is really hard. plus we still have dusty to make sure of it.lol

I agree that Dusty is idiotic. But there's very little difference in the Red's, Bucks and the Cards. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. Any of the 3 could go on a run and pull away or it could also be very tight until the end. But as I said there's so much left to this season.

This team is nothing like 2010, 2012. It is more like 2011 - just muddling along. Have one good game and then roll over and piddle around for a couple. People are confusing their early good start against mediocre to bad teams with Choo being hot as having a team that is doing OK overall. There are two winning starters, Latos and Leake. Anybody want to bet on Leake for the rest of the season? None of the pen have been consistent and several are hurt.

Votto already has 10 errors and I have seen him whiff or wave at quite a few other grounders that were not charged an error. Refuses to get in front of a hard grounder to his right. Has turned into a $20 million contact hitter that rarely drives the ball anymore. At bat Cozart is a DP or force out waiting to happen. BP is tailing off - but is asked to do a role that is not his strong suit. Frazier is down in production as is anybody in left field. Same with catching and with Hanni being hurt all year.

Besides Dusty, all of this and more tells me it ain't happening this season without WJ doing something big.

agree 100%. team has no heart. that is the difference between them and the cards and bucs. also the other 2 teams actually have a good manager.

stick a fork in them bro. its between you and the bucs.

Wouldn't say that, especially considering that I'm not sure there has been a much more even series this year than the last 4 game series between the reds and pirates. The big difference right now is that the reds played some good teams afterwards and the bats went cold while the pirates have played the brewers, angels, and mariners. There is still a ton of baseball to be played.

i've said it all along with dusty leading the ship the reds will always underachieve. jock knew the reds needed atleast another right handed bat. he is betting on that bat in ludwick who is coming off a torn labrum. even i would bet against that. jocketty is happy with being good not great that is his problem. 22 mil for votto was just stupid to, we are not the yankees. that contract will hamstring us for years to come.

I don't agree about Walt J. His past suggests otherwise.

Not all move work by any GM. But I doubt he's coasting. That's not his M.O.

maybe not but it seems like it to me. he tried to spend as much money as possible and made some bad moves. regardless i never see him holding the trophy in cincy. i mean what kind of GM keeps dusty around, that tells me he is almost out the door.
