'14 IN SG Jaquan Lyle

Gotta love remembering the reports from past recruits who said their parents liked Martin.

If he's listening to mom and grandmas opinion, I would have to think both women feel better about Zo than pitino. Also, just an assumption, but he doesn't mention his dad. If Jaquan was raised by just his mother that very similar to Martin....may have a strong connection between the 2.

"It's IU, Louisville, Tennessee and Florida," Lyle said. "That's the four."

Why did Louisville, Indiana, Florida and Tennessee make the cut?

"Those are the four schools that I think are the best for me," said Lyle. "I really like them a lot and think I fit in real well with all of their programs. I thank all the other schools for recruiting but this is the best decision for me and my family."

After visiting Louisville last weekend, Lyle said his next visit likely will be to Knoxville.

"I think I'm going to Tennessee's elite camp on [June] 22," Lyle said. "I might make a visit to IU. That Florida visit is going to have to wait for an official."

What stands out about the Volunteers?

"I just love Coach Martin and Coach Webster," said Lyle. "I think it's a great program and I fit in real well."

With his list narrowed to four elite contenders, Lyle said choosing one school over the other will be a difficult chore.

"I don't know [how I'm going to pick]," Lyle said. "This is what is going to be real hard because all the schools are really great."

Bleed can you imagine a backcourt of Lyle & Hubbs down the road? Throw in a 3rd guy like Armani Moore or Cornish for a 3 guard attack the way CCM likes, this could be a dangerous team even after most of the current guys are gone. Quality BIGS are important. A Looney with Lyle and the 2 (3 star) guys could make this a very nice class worthy of top 10 recruitment ranking. I know wishful thinking.

Can't see him doing Florida with Chiozza committed to the Gators.

I doubt it also but he said he doesn't care about who's already there. He feels he can play 1-2 and possibly three but if it does come down to that. Then that would leave us and IU as possible landing spots. UofL is stacked and Florida is still in on some good guards.

Florida doesn't concern me with him, I'm glad they made the cut over Illinois or UCLA. The 3 who have been there since the beginning is Louisville, Indiana and Tennessee. Mos recent signs seem to be Tennessee and Louisville at the top.

I'm unaware of any guards UL is in on, leads for, or is about to commit...but that may be some info that I should try and find out.

They have one Quentin Snider who is from the Louisville area that's committed. Nice PG.

College Basketball Recruiting Schools - ESPN

Here's the rest of the list only has three PG's
JaQuan Lyle
Quentin Snider
Emmanuel Muiday

They have Terry Rozier and Anton Gill incoming this year so they are pretty deep at the one and two spots.

And Chris jones will likely be there for 2 years

Yup. That's a very crowded back court. I do remember not too long ago on the news he was saying he was done recruiting PG's and SG's. I mean obviously you don't pass on a talent like Lyle but it will be interesting to see.

Five Star Lyle has final four

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- With a pair of commitments in the fold for the 2014 Class already in the fold it looks like Tennessee is about to line up and swing for the fences with some high level prospects. One of those is undoubtedly five-star point guard Jaquan Lyle, one of the most sought after players in the nation.

Lyle (6-foot-5, 180 pounds), from Evansville, Ind. is among the quality collection of talent competing this week at the NBA Players' Association Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va. Even with the top players in the country in attendance, Lyle has no problem standing out on the floor.

Apparently, Tennessee has done an admirable job of making their recruiting efforts stand out to him based off the good news he had for the Vols on Thursday.

Lyle talked about his four finalists, and divulged that the Vols had made the cut.

"I'm down to Tennessee, Louisville, Florida and Indiana, in no order," Lyle said of his finalists. "It was a hard decision and I really appreciate all the coaches and schools that have recruited me, but that's my final four."

That's potentially huge news for Tennessee who seem to be putting all their eggs in Lyle's basket for the time being when it comes to point guard recruiting. It's a bold strategy, but the payoff would almost certainly be worth it.

On first glance Tennessee appears to be swimming with some sharks in the chase for Lyle; competing against the defending national champions in Louisville, a perennial national contender and two time title winning coach in Florida and Billy Donovan as well as an elite program in Indiana that has a passionate in-state fanbase.

"Tennessee is in there because of the coaches, coach Martin and coach (Tracy) Webster," Lyle said. "I have a really good relationship with them and I really like the environment there. I think they're on the way to doing some big things at Tennessee."

Lyle has made a pair of unofficial visits to Knoxville. He was on campus last summer for Elite Camp and made the trip back this winter to take in the Kentucky game.

Even better for the Vols, he's planning another trip in a hurry, making plans to attend Elite Camp in Knoxville next weekend.

"I really liked it down there, the campus and facilities were great and that atmosphere at the game I went to really stood out. It's a nice place," Lyle said.

Lyle recently returned from an unofficial visit to Louisville and has also seen Indiana recently.

Getting him back to Knoxville next weekend is a hugely positive development and a real sign that the Vols seem to be as serious of a player in this race as anyone. Something Lyle himself reaffirms.

"Everybody that I'm looking at now is even, everybody has a chance," he said. "It was a real tough decision getting it down to four schools. They're all great programs. It's going to be a really tough choice.

Rivals.com rates Lyle as a five star prospect and the No. 17 overall player in the nation.

Lyle calls himself a mamma's boy, so it may come down to whether Cuonzo can convince mom that he and his program are worth the extra 3 hour drive to see her son play.
Hoping he comes across as worth it like he did with datkid's dad.
Time to cross your fingers and hold your breath on this on.
