IRS admits to targeting Conservative groups

He's saying it was directed from Washington IRS.

Transcripts of interviews with IRS employees are coming out and sworn testimony by employees fingers IRS HQ.

Issa: Cincinnati IRS employees say direction came from Washington – CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs

So as you can see Issa does have evidence it was beyond Cincinnati and had direction from Washington.

Huh.

Then I wonder why he just didn't say that it came from Lois Lerner?

I wonder why he said it was "directed" "from Washington"?

Come on. You know what he's trying to do.

Read the article again - he said the WH is sticking to the "rogue agent" story while he has evidence it goes well beyond Cincinnati.

He went too far in calling Carney a paid liar but other wise he was correct.

As for why he didn't say it came from Lerner; he doesn't have that evidence. He has some she was involved as was IRS HQ -- that's exactly what he said. The evidence exists counter to your claim.

Proof?

Wishful thinking?

None yet (might not ever be). But my goodness, one has to has to have blind faith that to believe that nobody in his circle (either administrative or political) knew/directed or that such a person did have such knowledge but elected to sit on such knowledge.

Exactly. His chief of staff knew

The allegations began in 2010. I guarantee some in the WH at least knew of the allegations but instead of doing anything about it they just ignored it.

Did anyone else catch the story yesterday where a conservative groups tax form with their donar list was given to their opposition and posted on their website? I ddidn't get the whole story and will look it up later, but I understnad it was one of POTUS' campaign chairs that runs the group. Wouldn't this be a felony?

No! Just a republican witch hunt.

In before LG.

Okay watching CSpan from yesterday's testimony on the IRS by the different conservative group leaders. I just saw the testimony by the head of the National Organization for Marriage, the largest group promoting traditional marriage in the country. Here is what he said:
--They had their 501c status approved in 2008
--Their tax forms for 2008(including their donor lists) were published by the group called Human Rights Campaign, the largest group promoting same sex marriages in the country. It was also published by the Huffington Post
--The copy of their tax form that was published included stamps that are put on the forms after they are received by the IRS and during processing of the form. In other words, these forms were from internal IRS files and not from any source outside of the IRS.
--The head of the Human Rights Campaign was one of BOs campaign chairmen.

I thought releasing a confidential document like this is illegal? Why hasn't there been an investigation this prior to now?

I believe the rub is here:
The form, a 990 Schedule B, reveals 50 of NOM’s donors. HRC has said the tax form came from a “whistleblower.” NOM is claiming that the form posted on HRC’s website has been digitally altered, with a non-altered version showing that the document is for “official use only” and has a document ID number for the IRS’s internal use.

If that's true.

but it wasn't political...

Will be interesting to see if anything comes of former economic advisor Austin Goolsbee speaking publicly about Koch Brothers taxes and internal information shortly after the group was audited.

Thug tactics for sure

Note - this story is from 2010

White House Adviser Goolsbee's Comment on Koch Taxes Reviewed by Treasury - Bloomberg

“You’re alleging that not only the administration did this, but that the IRS had to be complicit,” he said. “This is from Mars right now.”

Apparently we've landed on Mars :)

Update on the Goolsbee situation - now he claims his info came from an article from 2003 about a different Koch brother and he made a mistake. Keep in mind this guy was the head of the Economic Council of Advisors to Obama and an economics prof yet he confused a real estate guy in Florida with the Koch Brothers?

More incompetence or something worse - neither is very encouraging. Odd too that he's deleting the tweet.

Saw that too. I thought it would get more attention than it did.
