Vols #1 on Rivals

I wonder if there are any coaches out there that see UT's momentum and say to themselves, "It was fun while it lasted" or "Tennessee is waking up, we need to focus harder on our recruits that show interest in UT"?

Some of them have surely noticed the recruiting trail getting rougher because of UT's early success.

If this keeps up into the season, some head coaches of our opponents may even begin to really worry about their game against UT.

This reminds me of our Volunteers' basketball team beating a highly ranked Texas team, becoming one of Pearl's early upset wins, sending a wake-up call to the rest of collegiate basketball world.

We may be seeing the early wake-up call from University of Tennessee Volunteers' to the rest of the country!

Faith continues to elevate!

Go Vols!!!

I'd say all have taken notice. We will be back very soon

:eek:lol: you act like thats on him sadly i bet you believe it is

Who else would it be on? He is, after all, the HEAD COACH!

Let me guess... the fault rests with the 17 year old kid?

At the end of the day, selling a young man on your program, gaining their commitment, and holding their loyalty are the overall responsibility of the head coach.

If a player is truly sold on a program and philosophy, if they are academically eligible to accept an offer, there is nothing anyone could do to make them de-commit.

Something is going on there that is causing those young men to lose faith in the program and question if their commitment is the wrong choice.

A coach who has done his job will not have de-commits as much, because the coach would know how to create and maintain the recruits loyalty.

As did almost everyone in the top ten. We will be a top five team!

you are that high right now because you have more commits than anyone else does. in order to see how good you guys are really doing is check the avg stars (quality) of your class and on rivals the average is 3.38 which is good for 21st best among teams which is still good to have a top 25 recruiting class already in butch jones first year so far.

We're bound to eventually drop a few spots, unless we grab some 5* players or simply sign a lot more guys than the other schools at the top, because of our * average. It's great to see us listed at #1, and I am very happy with this Class, but I don't consider us to really have the best Class at this point.

I do consider us to have the best class at this point. Other than the obvious (#1) on Rivals - it's the intangibles that Butch is assembling. Butches teams have always played balls out. '13 may be a struggle but with the positive vibe surrounding the '14 class, IMO, we will see early benefits on the field this year. Nothing - absolutely nothing can deter confidence. Butch not only gets it - he owns it.

3.38 happens to be tied currently with Texas, Auburn & Florida

i'll take that for now

Georgia signed 33 players last year with an average of 3.48 for the class. We plan to sign around 31 so my guess is the average will be near yours of last year.

I wouldn't worry about this if I were you. I would be more worried about Clemson becoming The University in the state of Georgia.

Keep in mind that one of our recruits isn't being counted by Rivals in our team score. Kameel Jackson, a JUCO WR, will most likely add another three star once Rivals ranks JUCO.

The only other team in the top ten with a JUCO commit holding their points down is Louisville at 9.

does the Average Star Rating take into account the difference bewteen a 5.7 3* & a 5.5 3* ?

our 3 stars are much better than Candy's 3 stars, yet they have an equal "average star" rating.

i know the decimal rating comes into play in total points

Great news. Gladly eating my crow at this point. What CBJ has done up to this point is nothing short of astounding. He currently has Bruce Pearl-esque popularity. Simply amazing.

He reminds a lot of Pearl. Everybody thought it'd take Pearl a couple of years to win and he won big in year one. I hope Jones does as well.

Depends on how many 4 star guys you get, but you guys look to probably have a top 13 to 15 ranked class if the other teams have similar years. nah not worried about clemson, we will get ours as we always do. you guys need to worry about your on the field play because if you are selling we are on the way up you need to show something even in his first season.

thanks that makes sense.. so you will probably move up over 3.4.. like i said i wasn't saying your class isn't a good one at all, but when you are checking out how good it truly is your quality avg star rankings is a better indicator especially now due to how many commits you have compared to other teams.

also take into consideration that we have a lot of guys that might get bumps to 4* and Hurd might get his 5th

clemson may well end up with the #1 class. rumors are they will be getting ANOTHER 4* LB soon
I'm late responding here but Alabama will likely grab #1 with Michigan close behind. Michigan got the best CB and will likely get the best DE. I could see Clemson top 7.

Thought Carter was the best DE and was headed to Alabama?

Give me a break. Quit make excuses as to why your team is sucking wind in recruiting and we are not. All of your make believe nonsense doesn't change the fact that Tennessee is currently the top rated team in college football recruiting and UGA is not.

By the way, 6 of the 8 3 stars have a 5.7 rating with Rivals having 3 to 4 more evaluations before NSD. So who is to say what the final numbers will be as to who is a 4 star and who is a 3 star. Point is that Tennessee is landing guys over major D-1 programs like UGA who have offered several of these guys.

Minimize it all you want, but CBJ is doing work.

yep.. you will have guys move up and down especially after the summer camps. what you want is your guys to be in camps like the 5 star challenge or the opening and hope as many as possible get invites to the post season games. now with 247sports being affliated with an allstar game there will be bumps with guys going to their game. it happens on all of the sites if it's a game they are affliated with or cover exclusively.

gonna be interesting how it goes if you guys go 6-6 or even worse it seems like hurd and kelly are gonna be good at holding the class together tho thats important imo

but 6 wins does get you to a bowl game these days doesnt it? lol i could see 7 or 8 wins tho it but 5 seems possible too vandy isnt gonna be easy

Vandy was better last year and we had one of the worst defenses in our history. Do not expect Vandy to have the same success this year. Rodgers is gone. Franklin won't see another W in the column against UT for a long time.

We almost beat UGA and USC last year with a horrid defense. UT has a legitimate shot at beating either or both teams. Oh yeah and I would not be shocked to see your gators go down in defeat against UT.
