Great news. Gladly eating my crow at this point. What CBJ has done up to this point is nothing short of astounding. He currently has Bruce Pearl-esque popularity. Simply amazing.

I bit hard on gruden so when Jones was announced I was furious, but after his presser I started to turn, and with him pulling off a top twenty class this year with the mess Dooley made I was very impressed. After reading more about him this off season I grew more and more impressed, now I am full BUTCH and loving every minute of this ride! GBO!

gonna be interesting how it goes if you guys go 6-6 or even worse it seems like hurd and kelly are gonna be good at holding the class together tho thats important imo

but 6 wins does get you to a bowl game these days doesnt it? lol i could see 7 or 8 wins tho it but 5 seems possible too vandy isnt gonna be easy

If 6-6 is viewed as really bad next year, then the evaluator doesn't know our team. All these recruits can't help this Fall.

Recruiting is won on the phone, not the field. If it were won on the field, we'd have given up by now.

This year wins or losses will not affect our current 2014 class. They all are very aware of the current state of TN football, and their goal is to change the program. They are all pretty close and hold one another accountable.

We're bound to eventually drop a few spots, unless we grab some 5* players or simply sign a lot more guys than the other schools at the top, because of our * average. It's great to see us listed at #1, and I am very happy with this Class, but I don't consider us to really have the best Class at this point.

Well said. Love the short term pub we get for CURRENTLY having the #1 class. Our large number of 3 star kids will have us sliding back as other teams add commits. I'll take the positive vibe while we can get it.

Hopefully Butch and staff and TK Jr., Vic and Hurd are spreading this like wildfire. Perception is reality. If other kids on the fence see us as the top recruiting school, it may help us seal the deal with other top rated recruits.

I guess we can enjoy #1 for a couple hrs anyways. Texas is supposed to land a 5* and a 3* later tonight.

Edit: The 5* OT is a 2015 recruit. The 3* is a 2014 kid.

Florida, Ole Miss, and Auburn all finished top ten with 12-15 3 star recruits. We'll def be in the top 5 when it's all said and done.

Plus Henderson and Brown could both add a fourth star easily, along with a 5th star for Hurd.

We have to land 2-3 5*'s or more or we will drop in the rankings. All 3 teams you mentioned signed multiple 5 * kids as well as the 12-15 3*s you mentioned.

Again, all that is predicated on what happens in the future. Point is, UT is currently in the top spot. Obviously that is a fluid situation, but it still shouldn't stop some of the coaches and committed players from putting it out there for at least a short period of time that Tennessee tops the recruiting rankings.

This picture pleases me and it's been a while since we've seen anything like this.

really bad no? 4 or 5 would be really bad

and i agree i doubt a 6-6 season would affect your recruiting too much gotta show improvement tho

i know its stupid to say in 1 yr but player development make a couple up coming stars in the sec that are unknowns now

I wonder if there are any coaches out there that see UT's momentum and say to themselves, "It was fun while it lasted" or "Tennessee is waking up, we need to focus harder on our recruits that show interest in UT"?

Some of them have surely noticed the recruiting trail getting rougher because of UT's early success.

If this keeps up into the season, some head coaches of our opponents may even begin to really worry about their game against UT.

This reminds me of our Volunteers' basketball team beating a highly ranked Texas team, becoming one of Pearl's early upset wins, sending a wake-up call to the rest of collegiate basketball world.

We may be seeing the early wake-up call from University of Tennessee Volunteers' to the rest of the country!

Faith continues to elevate!

Go Vols!!!
