another thing that I do with Leighton. I never push him or critique him on a performance. It is what it is. If he has a bad game, I offer some suggestions on what he did wrong, but never get on his ass for a poor performance. Only time I ever get on him is if I think he played terrible because he was being lazy. I hate to see parents who try to live their athletic lives through their kids. Most parents werent worth a **** at sports anyway and want their kids to be the best. I am proud of my kid if he strikes out every time he goes to the plate. You cant win em all.

Helluva post right here.
Parents that try to live through their kids need to stfu and back off.

I overheard some parents talking yesterday and apparently one of Leightons friends is rumored to be smoking marijuana. Guess I need to sit him down this morning and have a talk with him. Drugs are a no/no with me. Might as well do it and get it over with.

Do it, Bubba. Have that talk asap and I'm not even playing around. I didn't think I needed to worry about it when my 17 year old was your sons age, I was dead wrong. He damn near killed himself with the hard stuff and spent time in a rehab to get clean. I wouldn't wish that on any family. Have the talk and keep your eyes open, brother.

I agree with parents talking to their kids at the appropriate age about issues and that age is getting earlier. But one of the most uncomfortable situations I've ever been in was at school when Gthe child advocacy center showed a film n had a discussion on bad/inappropriate touch with 10 year olds in a mixed setting. It was too much and wasn't graphic but it left the kids confused

solid.

Might as well talk bout the sex too.

we have already crossed that bridge. Went and laid in bed with him and had the drug talk. I told him that he wouldnt get in trouble for anything we discussed during the conversation. He said he had heard rumors of the drug stuff but hadnt seen it. I feel comfortable that he was being truthful I have found that the best way to handle things like this is to just do it and be upfront about it. After all, that is part of our responsibility as grown ups and parents. It might be uncomfortable talking about certain things, but if we can plant a seed, it makes it all worth it.

damn. Wife made grilled cheeses, bacon, and sausage. Gonna hang out a few, then get ready and head out to Harrison shortly after lunch.
