Not a well designed explosive, in my opinion. The majority of the force from the explosion went straight up, and the design obviously failed to have any thing in place to block this path and push the the explosion out.

The area down there is body to body on Marathon Monday. The fact that only a handful are dead and only a couple hundred injured absolutely amazes me. Fortunately, this ******* and coward was not incredibly competent.

That's what I thought you meant and I agree, unless the goal wasn't to kill 1000's.

3/4 of a mile from Fenway.

Huge cluster-****, by the way, you had both the Red Sox game and the marathon going on. Tons of runners will not be able to get out of the city, tonight (all the mass transit was suspended while I was down there). There is a massive Google Doc up where residents of Boston are offering to house runners tonight.

Would have had more impact to set them off when the winners were coming across.

Also found several bombs that did not detonate. Those bombs will tell us a lot about how they were made and who may be responsible.

I agree with TRUT this was a sloppy job.

I don't think so. 2-5 bombs in one major American city on one day...I think this was their shot and they blew it (I certainly hope so).

And, under the grandstands while the winners are coming across. Everyone is walking around with backpacks during this thing, plenty of bags in and around the grandstands (friends and family of finishers who have dry shirts and blankets and snacks).
