Justin Coleman*set the tone for the defense early with a spectacular one-handed interception of Justin Worley in the corner of the end zone. Coleman later told the media he was out of position, but played catch up and made a play.

Junior college transfer*Riyahd Jones*was injured early in the scrimmage and didn’t return.*Daniel Gray*filled in opposite of Coleman.

A.J. Johnson*was able to collect a sack fumble on a botched handoff to Justin Worley in the early team periods.

Second-team safety*Geraldo Orta*had another big scrimmage. The redshirt sophomore lit up Tom Smith on run and came up with an interception of Nathan Peterman.

Daniel McCullers had a monster clothesline tackle on running back Rajion Neal that ended a drive. McCullers continues to move better as Butch Jones continues to challenge the senior tackle.

Freshman defensive end*Corey Vereen*had two sacks on the day and continues to stick out as a contributor on the second-team defensive line.

Orta seems to be coming on. Will see a lot of time this year, IMO

I know that the O&W game is April 20th and it starts at 2:00PM, but does anyone know how early you need to be there for autographs and to be allowed out on the field with the players? This would be my first time (second time to the O&W game) so i don't know anything about this part of the game/day.

From a poster on VQ. Another witness to the difference. Enjoy.

I just returned from Knoxville where I attended the high school coach's clinic and left once again thoroughly impressed. Our head coach was one of the keynote speakers and I went along to help him with his presentation and got another opportunity to see and interact with the coaching staff. The staff was identical to the way they were at Junior Day. The were totally excessable the entire clinic, this includes the head man, Butch Jones too. Just speaking with other high school coach's that attended last year, they said it was totally different and I will leave it at that.

When Butch Jones speaks you can't help but get excited about his style. He is high energy, teaches discipline, and teaches fundamentals down to the tiniest detail. We were very impressed at the scrimmage today to see those little details being carried out. For example, we won't be the last man up. Of course, I could go on and on about the psychological things that Butch implements, but I would be here forever.

Now, to the best part of my trip. My 6 year old told me to say hey to Antoine Davis if I saw him. Well, after dinner last night, on the gym floor of TBA, we headed over to the sky boxes in Neyland for a coach's social. Antoine was right in front of me on my way over and I hurried up to him and told him what my 6 year old had asked of me. Guys, Antoine is the real deal! We spent the next hour in a one on one conversation talking about his experience on The Biggest Loser, his time at UT, time under Dooley, and how awesome Butch and the current staff is.

In no uncertain terms, he knows Butch will get the job done and take UT back to where we belong. It was truly an eye opener from top to bottom and I can't wait to see the progression of the program. Please, don't take this to mean we will 9-12 games this year. But, the system is for real and the future is bright.

I hope fans don't take all this positive news to mean we're going to be great this year. This process will be tough. But we've been through Hell the past 4 years. I think we're good judges of what a rebuilding job takes, because we've seen the opposite.

But this is a multi-year process. I hope the fanbase doesn't lose faith during the season, because I think it will be tough.

That is a huge hope KV, haha. I have a buddy who is still asking why we hired Butch Jones. Still thinks we should have a coach who has coached in the SEC.

The UT players held a players only meeting and here is a few quotes. Pretty good stuff.

"We just felt the need to do it to hold each other accountable. I can't really say too much about it because it's a players-only meeting. But it was to let guys know that you will be held accountable on this team. Myself included," said Marlon Walls, who along with A.J. Johnson, Curt Maggitt and Dontavis Sapp was critical in the meeting being held. "That meeting was basically about that. We touched a few areas where we need to get stronger. We felt like we need to bond more as a team. We felt like we needed to get together to cover that."

"All these guys, everybody has the same mentality. Everybody's bought in to this system. Everybody's disappointed from last year, but that's team 116. This is team 117. We're moving forward, and we're going to do what we've got to do to get some wins in the column and do our thing," said redshirt freshman defensive tackle Danny O'Brien. "For the team, everybody's really holding each other accountable. We had an early workout last Friday, and it was at 6 a.m. and a couple of guys missed and everybody was held accountable. We had a team meeting with no coaches, and we held everybody accountable for who was there and who wasn't."

"The offense came out on Wednesday (April 3), and we had a terrible, terrible lift. Coach (Dave) Lawson wasn't pleased with us at all, and Friday morning we came in and had a 6 a.m. workout, and I think A.J. Johnson and Curt Maggitt stepped up and said 'Hey defense, let's join the offense. Let's come and lift. We're all a team.' Things like that," Worley said. "We had a couple guys miss it; just didn't show up. I can't speak on their part or anything, but we had a team meeting Friday after that lift. A.J. Johnson told all the players to stay in after the coaches left. He stood up, called a couple guys out and that's exactly what we need. That leadership and accountability. Hold these guys accountable to their actions. It was good to see some guys step up like that.

Michael Palardy had a strong start to the scrimmage both punting an place-kicking, but hit a severe speed bump late in the day. At one point Palardy had five straight misses with the ball on the right hash from 45 yards out before getting his sixth attempt through the uprights.

That's our Palardy! :)

Our goal this year is to win 6-7 games (including bowl). That would be a successful year.

Franklin was honored as “Tennessean of the Year” by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame during a halftime presentation for the Commodores’ nine-win season in 2012. He received a standing ovation from what school officials estimated to be a crowd of 14,000 — the most at a spring game in decades.

VU had 8,500 last year.

So you went on a bender and your smartphone hasn't refreshed since April 1st?

I actually travel a lot and I do miss on a lot of news and things happen in sports. I was watching Peyton's interview and underneath it was the breaking new. I did not know it had been up since April 1st. I did think it strange and that why I posted to see what was going on. So I guess you could say I was ripe for being punked. Sorry for the foolish posting about it. I try to keep up with everything but I do miss a lot of stuff. Thank goodness for VN. :blush2:
