The Runner's thread

4.0 last night 7:18 pace. I struggled last night to hit the four mile distance. I am going to have to work on my starting pace being a little slower. I think I am starting out too fast and it's hurting me in the long run.

Anyone else running in the Knoxville full or 1/2 this Sunday?

Looking forward to that finish on the 50 yd line at Neyland... may look to tackle someone after I cross the finish line for the hell of it.

Just the 5K for me. I'm doing the color run Saturday with some friends too, though I'm just going to take it easy and have fun.

3 miles tonight.

promised myself a week of taking it easy to start the month. I've done a little crossfit stuff and started doing tabata workouts, but no runs and nothing too extreme. It's been a task to keep myself from running. Can't wait to get out there tomorrow.

I told myself I was going to not run for a week after my last month. I couldn't do it.

The first two days were no big deal. The next three were unbearable. I felt absolutely awful and drained. My head kept telling me a run would make you feel better, a run will make you feel better! But yesterday and today I feel great and rejuvenated. Definitely think it's going to be worth it in the end.

2.91 @ 8:17 pace today. It was on the course for the Knoxville Marathon 5K this Sunday. Should be looking at about 25:00 in the race.

Weekly Total: 17.87 Miles

4 miles last night at 7:11 pace. It was mostly flat and pretty much perfect weather. Going to run after work today at a place that has lots of hills so my pace will be much slower.

Weekly total 11.6

Color Me Rad 5k this morning. Took it pretty easy to save my legs for tomorrow.

Weekly Total: 20.97 Miles

6.5 yesterday morning in Umstead State Park in Raleigh NC. They had a 50 & 100 mile race going on. 8 or 4 laps of 12.5 miles. that would be boring to me.

I ran in the Covenant Health 5K today. I was hoping for 25:30, i ran a 23:21. I am now of the strong belief that intervals are some sort of voodoo magic. I'll be aiming for sub 20 next year.

Weekly Total: 24.07 Miles

Finished the Knoxville 1/2 with a time of 1:47:53. My goal was 1:45 and I was just under goal pace at 10 mile mark, but struggled the final few miles.

I will be running the Nashville 1/2 at the end of April and will attack that 1:45 goal there! The Nashville course is a little flatter, especially on the back half, so that should help.

Congrats on the time! You killed it!

Congrats on the time and finishing the race. I did the exact same thing you did. I was on pace for my goal time (which happens to be your same time) and the last two or three miles I struggled and killed my goal time.

Anybody wear sunglasses when they run? If so, what brand? The sunglasses I have now are heavier sunglasses and seem to squeeze my head behind my ears. Not very comfterable. TIA

I ran with my Oakley Minute 2.0s today just to see how they felt. They didn't bother me at all, but man I just wasn't feeling it today. Ran 5.2 miles along the Holston River on Kingsport's Greenbelt. The weather was perfect, views were outstanding, paved trail was even nice, I just had nothing in the tank. Legs were fine, just couldn't get it moving. 9:18 pace.

I'm going to blame the elevation change since I'm back home for the week...
