Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Butch on the short list after Kiffin bolted? Or was it before Kiffin was hired?

Either way....I would FREAKING LOVE to have seen what CBJ could have done with the last three year's teams...and recruiting classes.

We're in on some really big names already with this staff and we haven't even played an O&W game yet. Regardless of how well he coaches, if CBJ keeps recruiting at the level he is right now..............

From a poster on VQ...TIFWIW

My take on scrimmage today...

1) Tiny was held out again, but was still very much into the scrimmage vocally.
2) The defense appeared to be much more disciplined, communication was improved.
3) Tackling from was much improved from earlier in the Spring.
4) We will need some playmakers at wideout (biggest concern). Croom did make a nice, tough catch toward the end of scrimmage.
5) Worley currently looks like the best QB option right now.
6) Alden Hill had some nice cut back runs and appeared to have good vision to the hole, not much burst though
7) Orta was all over the field making plays from sideline to sideline. He absolutely brought the Wood everytime he was near the ball.
8) McCullers was dominant inside against both the run and pass. Constant push.
9) Vereen has some burst Off the edge.
10) The Dline overall had a very nice day and looks like they are making strides.
11) impressed with the pace the kids practiced with and looked to be having a good time.
12) If you are injured, you will workout doing something the entire practice... It looked brutal.

Overall, there was just great energy from the kids and the staff. We need a playmaker at WR. We still need to improve our overall speed. I think we are definitely headed in the right direction if we are patient!!

MarQuez North can't get here any sooner. I hope he has a Malcolm Mitchell type impact as a freshman. He will add a different dynamic to our WR group.

Wouldn't bet on it. Too tough a transition, IMO.

Just put him in positions to succeed. I'm not expecting a lot. I'm expecting him to be a threat that defenses have to respect, which can open things up.

He has a playbook. Hopefully he can come in ready to go after the injury.

North is certainly going to get every opportunity to play that's for sure. Hopefully he shows up ready to work in June.

I have a feeling Paul Harris is doing better than the coaches are saying. I think they're dogging him because of potential and because of his aspirations.

Recruiting notes from Birmingham...

I've already put up one set but here are some more...

Shaun Dion Hamilton has a final three of Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee. Tennessee has done really well here and is right in te thick of it with the two instate schools. He says he hears from Todd Kelly Jr almost daily.

Petera Wilson said he plans to be up for the Orange and White game and mentioned the Tennessee, Ohio State and Ole Miss are coming after him the hardest right now. He says Jason Carr has been talking up the Vols a lot recently.

Drew Richmond of Memphis plans to be at the Orange and White game. He was invited to the Rivals Five Star Challange later this summer and showed out really well.

Also, Memphis Melrose athletes Cornelius Sturghill and Jonathan Johnson had big days. Johnson won the offensive MVP skill player. He has an Ole Miss offer but expect that to change soon. Tennessee has been in touch recently.

Lots of stories and coverage coming tonight and throughout the week.

Hamilton would be a huge pull out of Alabama. Kid has an impressive offer list. Wonder what these kids think of the news out of Auburn?

When I played college ball I pulled my hamstring once. Nothing too serious but enough to take a week or two off. We dressed out in full pads, and went to the sidelines watching practice and did something that didn't effect our injury non stop. I did elevated pushups till my arms couldn't move, or ab work or riding a stationary bike. They made it hard as hell to make sure that not only did you stay in shape, but that you weren't faking it.

5* RB Dalvin Cook just flipped from Clemson to Florida.

I know no one cares but the football talk thread hasn't been bumped in an hour and a half.
