I'm going to go out on a limb though and say compliance does not condone somebody initing a prospective student athlete on their boat

100% agree with this, or anything that could be even loosely construed as an invite to do anything or an offer of any tangible good or service. That can hurt as opposed to help. They educated me on what is and is not permissible and just trying to pass that along. Even if what is said is not literal, if one person thinks it could be then it is not a good idea. Best to stick to university and program attributes and not anything personal especially anything giving the appearance of an offer whether it wan intended that way or not. I am 43 years old married with kids and would never literally invite a kid I have never met to do anything. I would not even invite 90% of the people I do know to literally go out on my boat lol. We hung out on the lake with a bunch of players the last few years, but it was always "players and their families" not some weird creepy thing and never was it on my boat, only big enough for my family.

Agreed here too, should want then to come here but if someone is not mature enough to wish them the best wherever they go then they probably shouldn't participate.

The biggest compliance issue are those that make "parody accounts" that make them sound like official arms if the university like "@RecruitingUT" or "@UTRecruiter" etc.....

Great article about Tiny and James on ESPN.

Great part in there about the potential game winning drive against USCe and the subsequent fumble caused by Clowney, via Tiny (he man-handled him all game long but for that ONE play), reminds me of something I kept thinking last year and will likely holds water with this upcoming season.....we were a HELL OF A LOT better than 5 wins last year.

Ok, maybe not a helluva lot, but we should have won 7 games IMO. There was way too much talent on that team for a 5 win season but it just goes to show how poor of coaching we had...

Which leads me to believe this year's team should show up on the field A LOT better...even if we are only marginally better in the win column.

Feeding the massive egos of 17 and 18 year olds is never a good idea. Let the coaches handle it.

Massive overachievement to win 6 games?! Really?! Talk about managing expectations on a message board. LOL.

You read that wrong....I think we'll be a much better coached team and will be evidenced by how we play but our schedule does us no favors.

It's not a stretch to say this team can improve A LOT on the field but only marginally so in the W-L columns.

“Our receiving corps has to step up,” head coach Butch Jones said Tuesday. “We are not anywhere where we need to be and we need some individuals there.”

"The one individual who has really started to impress me right now is Jason Croom,” Jones said. “I thought he came back from spring break, I could tell he got into his play book, he ran over break and I really liked the way he approached practice today.

“He is a big 6-foot-4, 225-pound individual and he needs to play like that. I really saw some glimpses today and I am very encouraged by what I saw with him."

“That is what coach has been talking to me about, using my size more and having my confidence when I am out there,” Croom said. “That is what I have been working on. Like today I wrote on my wristband no missed physical opportunities. Every chance I have, try to be physical.”

“It is different because last year I was messed up,” Croom said. “I tore my hamstring and then once my hamstring got better I messed up my shoulder. I was just down from the get go and now I am healthy and learning a lot more from coach (Azzanni).”

It must be being that it is a form of communication. I wonder if back in the day people said don't use that new tool the telephone to recruit just Western Union him because calling him at the house is too creepy.

If it was a fan, yes it was creepy.

Here in Birmingham...

Hey guys, athletes are just now being let on the field. I'll update this thread throughout the day with news and observations. I've already seen Charles Mosley and he looks good and ready to compete. I expect a nice performance from him today.

Creating good will... With the professors no less. Butch seems to realize the way you treat people can really help you in the long run

Only a cheap a#$ public defender would have u plead out for something you didn't do.

Its not the attorneys decision whether ot not to plead, but feel free to tell that to Brian Banks, Margo Freshwater, and the 300 or so people who, it has been proven, were wrongfully convicted over the last 20 years or so.

First go and learn what it takes to get a convicted felon exonerated.
