Inviting a kid to a sleepover is creepy, helping sell him on the university not so much. If you don't like it then simply do not participate. Not too difficult.

I get you man, im cool too. I'm actually 24 myself. I just don't have time to get on twitter. I see it is beneficial to a point, but i have heard some things on here that it straight up too far on those "Creepy" points everybody was talking about. When it gets to those levels people should just stop.:hi:

How many average fans do you really think ought to be "selling" a kid on the university though? I know everybody wants to help, but I'm just not sure how good an idea that is.

Most of the kids (recruits) seem to be using twitter and they seem to really like it when fans contact them. If a person can use it with the recruits and stay within the rules and help influence a kid by letting them know what a great place UT is then why would any real UT fan be against it? No one makes you use it so you don't have to. I don't twitter, I'm too old to start I guess, but I enjoy reading (what I can understand) what they say! GBO! For someone to argue that it's weird to use twitter to let a kid know that we would love to have them playing for UT is not weird, to tell a kid that you want them to play for Vandy would really be weird!

So those posters that defended and did not understand that Dools was an incompetent head coach until he nearly finished three seasons are also now saying Dools was incompetent. Those same posters are now saying Jones "gets it" and is turning everything around. Based on those same posters' track records with analyzing coaches I guess they need to get the moving vans ready. LOL.


As I have said numerous times as well as Ron and few others, 8 wins is an expectation with this roster. That is not unreasonable at all for a competent coaching staff. It is a good mid-level SEC roster. The D has to get better with going back to the 4-3 and with better fundamentals. The O has good things going for it with an upper class manned line and RB's. Just not making stupid mistakes and playing some D will get you two more wins per year. But we haven't seen it happen yet. Until it does it is all speculation. But it is what we should expect.

To be fair, Dooley was not a complete failure at all, and I really disagree with characterizing him that way. In many ways, he did *get* it, and in the ways he got it, I think he did well. To suggest that he was completely incompetent is to suggest that Saban is incompetent for hiring him...more than once. 'Taint so.

He was not, however, a good coach in the sense that Saban is. There are many guys that are outstanding 'right hand men', that are not good leaders. I believe that was Dooley. A great concept guy...but a poor leader and motivator.

I will count myself among those that supported Dooley...not because there was any measurable reason to believe he would succeed, but because the alternative was unacceptable. When it finally became clear that he wasn't going to win regardless of how long he had, I was ready to see him go. I think reasonable arguments could be made for Year Zero and Year One, but by Year Two it was glaringly evident that we had problems. Had Wilcox hung around, I'm pretty sure Dools would have gotten 8 wins and kept his job...but that would've just stalled the inevitable. He was always going to under-perform by 2 to 3 wins per year...just as he did at LaTech. No amount of recruiting was going to fix that...

My prediction remains a 7-5 regular season and a likely bowl win.

Answer: very few, if any at all.

I'm hooked on recruiting, no doubt about it, but I find the fascination some fans have with following minors who aren't even out of high school very....weird. It creeps me out, to be honest. JMO.

I think we win 6 regular season games this year, land a top 10 recruiting class and then build from there. My expectation is to be competing for the East by year 3, after two straight years of top 10 recruiting. I think that's reasonable in the circumstances.

Everyone saying Wr have this or that talent needs to chill out. Guys like Corey Miller/Marlon Walls/ Eric Gordon, ect, ect all were 4*'s out of HS yes, but they've had a college career filled with instability and turmoil. They've learned 3 or 4 systems and moved positions. You can't expect them to all of a sudden their last year in another brand new system to just blossom into all SEC players. Don't give me Robert Ayers or any comparison like that cause he was in the same system 4 years.

Whether anyone likes it or not this is an unbalanced screwed up roster once again and will be a huge overacheivement to reach 7 wins

Agreed. When I was at the complex today the compliance guys wanted me to spread the word to be classy and show them fan love but sure there are those that go over the line. Saying you want them to run through the T, take the Vol Walk, or talking about Neyland Stadium with pics of each and a full stadium is not only permissible it's condoned. Was a topic of conversation when I had lunch at Gibbs with a lot of the players and coaches. I can see where it could become creepy but if we keep it classy and build up the university it helps and is appreciated by those that matter.

Here is my thought on this subject...If this was say...UGAs roster...with all the coaching and offensive and defensive changes going on. Would people say they should "easily" win 8 games this year? If you say yes you are a liar.:blink: I am with you 100 percent on this 2002. Unreasonable expectations (this year) will be the death of Butchs' rebuilding job.

The only thing that concerns me about UTs expanded presence on Twitter is the fact that I don't trust a large segment of our fan base to handle the inevitable rejection from some guys.

It must be being that it is a form of communication. I wonder if back in the day people said don't use that new tool the telephone to recruit just Western Union him because calling him at the house is too creepy.
