To those posters still trashing Chaney - you are revealing your ignorance of the game.
Chaney delivered #18 in total offense with less than SEC quality running backs and having to come from behind all of the time when the SEC quality defenses knew what was coming. This isn't the 90's anymore. You can't just pound the rock and throw an occasional pass without having Bama type talent on offense and defense. And even they lost a game. Now Chaney will actually have a real running game at Arky to go with a passing scheme that is one of the very best in the game. Once they recruit the talent they need to run it we will be very happy they are in the west division.
Chaney was an ok OC, though with all the NFL talent we had on his side of the ball our O should have been ranked even higher. Chaney might have been an ok OC, but he was a terrible game day coach, many of his calls were so terrible it was beyond me how he was allowed to call plays.
Why would you take a plea if you're innocent. Taking a plea would mean he accepts some sort of responsibility for what took place. He is saying he did nothing wrong and had no idea about what was going to take place. If he believes in his own heart and mind that he did nothing wrong and was in the wrong place at the wrong time why not stand up and fight. This is his life we're talking about here. Who's to say that at the end of the day the prosecution doesn't have enough evidence to support the charges against him. That's why we go to trial. Just sayin.
Nearly 36 points per game and Chaney was just OK. LOL. Behind the 8 ball in nearly every SEC game and having a shoot out with Troy for heaven's sake. Only 3 other SEC schools scored more per game - A&M, Bama, and UGA in that order. What were their records? C'mon, get real. You are beefing about some playcalls. That's about 5% of what an OC does. You will be beefing about this one as well. You will never get anybody to agree with all of the playcalls of an OC in any program.
You're basing talent on stars and not production.I just don't understand the people in the media/recruiting sites saying that we only have the talent to possibly win 6 games. Our recruiting classes have still been better than teams like Arkansas, Louisville, Wisconsin, Oregon State, Boise State, TCU, Mich St, Kansas St, Vandy, Rutgers, and many more, yet those teams manage to win plenty of ball games.
We have 4 star talent at literally every position, if I'm not mistaken (and I don't believe I am). With good coaching, this team can win 8 games. I think we'll win 7 reg season, bowl game will make 8. With games like Auburn, Missouri, and Vandy near the end of the year, we should be playing solid football by then, and we shouldn't lose to those teams.
Auburn is the only team that will have more talent than us. I think that will be a great game as well. Malzahn is a great coach. It depends on what happens to Auburn with all thats coming out right now, but I just don't see Malzahn not leading a championship contending team within 3 years. He's one of the best coaches in the nation, IMO.
