Good stuff. Props to Mahoney, some guys want to use "their" terminology just because.

"The search for playmakers on offense is a long ways from over. Marlin Lane has clearly been better than Rajion Neal thus far this spring at the running back position and that's a position that has been getting the ball in a couple of ways. Obviously in the run game, and then they are being used a lot in the passing game --- particularly when it comes to the screen game. This offense has worked a ton this spring on the screen game and it's clearly the biggest reason those guys were asked to lose weight."

Good.

Creative use of screens is perfect when you lack the ability to go deep. Draw them in, and then take your shot downfield to keep them honest. Pig and DY should eat up plenty of yardage with WR screens and the backs will do well on the check downs

Thank you Lord for smart coaches. Big strong athletic O-line should be used like crazy for screens. Dummy Chaney hardly ever called them to back the fire blitz packages off from other teams.

So, 2 pages ago Neal has a firm grasp on the 1st team and lane and Hill are battling for second. Now, in less than a day, Lane has clearly been better than Neal. Gotta love spring.

Marlin looked better last year too.. Neal got the nod for some reason.

I thought the same thing. Lane was more consistant than Neal last year.

Never understood why when Lane was having the better game they still gave Neal the majority of carries.

I know we all want Thig to be here forever with the way he's recruiting and what not.
The reality of it is that by the time the NCAA gets around to throwing the book at Auburn for anything that happened while Thig was there, he probably won't be at UT any longer.
If someone says I have to refer you to the Coach that doesn't make him complicit in anything. She never accused him of anything. Some of you, not saying specifically you are lumping everyone in one batch. That's not how it works

He called screen plays all the time...look at 3rd and 1 play calling last year. He and dooley called a screen every time in that situation.. .

Sal/chaney/dooley thought screens needed to be at least 30 yards from the LOS
The opponents never ever figured that out. Pure genius :)

This is the exact opposite of what the coaches said yesterday.

Yeah, at first I was offended, and found it somewhat ironic that the major news outlets were solely focused on "Auburn paid players" rather than, "This guy might go to jail for no reason."

That said, each side of the story lines up with a politically charged stereotype. It really comes down to who you believe. His version story is no more original than the prosecutor's when you really look at it.

One of the real problems I have with this story is that the prosecutors can offer him 3 years on a plea but he's facing the possibility of life if he loses at trial.

First, even if he's innocent he's ****ing nuts to not take the deal.

Second, one of the most common responses to claims of racism in the criminal justice system is "do the crime, do the time." But then the same set of actions qualify under such a broad set of criminal definitions that the range of applicable penalties is 3 years to life in prison. When one guy has the power to decide which maximum penalty the defendant faces, there is considerable room for abuse there.

Edit- Sorry to get all political in the football thread.
Why would you take a plea if you're innocent. Taking a plea would mean he accepts some sort of responsibility for what took place. He is saying he did nothing wrong and had no idea about what was going to take place. If he believes in his own heart and mind that he did nothing wrong and was in the wrong place at the wrong time why not stand up and fight. This is his life we're talking about here. Who's to say that at the end of the day the prosecution doesn't have enough evidence to support the charges against him. That's why we go to trial. Just sayin.

This. This. This.

"Damn the screen, throw the fade route again into triple coverage"!!!!

Signed, CJC and approved by Tyler Bray.

I would have done more slant routes last year. CP on the shorter cut and JH on the deep cross. Throw ZR on a 5 yard In route, Rivera kicks to the outside, Bray lights it up all day. His slant pattern throw is freaking work of art. The shorter routes make it easier to go through his progressions, and reading the zone would have been SOOO much easier. When they go man, throw a double move streak outside on a PA, and you have a TD and a couple broken ankles on the opp. DB. Also supports TB "touchdown or check down" mentality. Opponent goes dime or nickel to stop the pass, run it up the gut for chunks at a time. Kick out a counter on 3rd down, TD again. Or PA.
