HBO's "Game of Thrones"

Anybody else excited about the Reeds?

Didn't read the books so I don't know who they are yet. They weren't shown in the first episode were they? All I know about them is that they're young and I'm assuming they are the kids in the previews who approach Bran Stark.

They weren't and yes, they're involved with Bran. They originally appear in the second book, but were left out of last season.

They're from swampland.

I don't have the attention span to read the books and don't want a spoiler, but Joffrey or Geoffrey or whatever better go down hard.

Same here. I wish I was more into reading books. I'm sure I would love it. I have heard some people say they enjoyed re-reading the books after watching the show, since they finally had faces to put with names. Aside from my daily bible reading I never pick up a book, but if I did it would definitely be the Song of Ice and Fire series

The new queen is way too kind to be in the mix with the Lannister's; I could already see Cersi plotting her demise at dinner.

I don't recall the orphan scene from the books so this isn't a spoiler but I interpreted the action not as "nice" but a calculated move to win the hearts/minds of the people of King's Landing should a move on the Lannisters by the Tyrell's be necessary.

Read Book 1 after Season 1. Read Book 2 during Season 2. Read Book 3 prior to this season and am about halfway through Book 4.

It helps - as does repeated viewing of episodes to keep up with all the subplots and families. Nearly every line of the show is telling you something you need to know.

If you can swing the blu ray sets the side menu extras are pretty helpful in providing background info on characters, locales and history.

I haven't read the books and I often find it difficult to keep up with all of the characters and subplots. This is one of the few shows where I get irritated if anyone in the house makes noise and causes me to miss the dialog. Gotta get the kids in bed before watching this one . . . .

For those of you who haven't read the books...lets just say this season is going to be very painful and surprising for you.

Having not read the books yet, I discounted Margery as Sanza 2.0 - expecting her to naive and in over her head.

Seems that might be incorrect; watching the behind the scenes, they explain how Cersi is threatened by her simply because she's just as cunning and better in almost every way.

Margery and her family did not just fall off of the turnip truck. They are not new to the political game.

That's what I keep hearing. The directors in the interview even said when they decided to do this show that this was the season they wanted to get to and had in mind all along.

As evidence, one of the "previously on GoT" scenes the showed was Littlefinger asking Margery if she wanted to be a queen and she says "No, I want to be THE queen".
