Just curious but what about Louisville? They bring a strong BB program and a decent FB program.

Carolina doesn't go anywhere without Duke.

I agree, but what happens if Clemson and FSU jump to B12 or 1G leaving only UM and Lville as football schools...jmo UNC will look to make a move with or without Duke, if the B1G or SEC won't take them. Slive is sitting back waiting for them to fall into the SEC lap. Just like with Mizzou and A&M..Most outside the SEC laugh but he got the SEC into St. Lou, Chi and in Texas markets...added a top basketball program.. 2 of the better non-revenue programs in America and both are AAU schools Which means millions in research money for SEC schools. 80% of this is about sports but the other 20% is getting the SEC to the level of B1G academics.

NCstate would get in before L'ville which is sad bc they have a great sports program and one of the better AD's in the nation..but truth is they don't bring anything oustide of sports to the SEC. If Maryland didn't leave the ACC they would still be in the Big East...hell, Big 8 took WVU over them. Yeah, I'm sure Slive has them on speed dial.

I think this minset is identical to the teaching and minset of our last two coaching staffs. I think it is why a lot of coaches left. I think that our DC from last year was awful.

I think this minset is why we could not upset any of these "superior" teams.

As Coach Jones has said winning and losing is a large part mental.

Last year's staff on defense sucked every ounce of hope, desire and confidence out of the D.
The offense got tired of having to score every time they took the field. Gave up in some games.

How can you expect to win, try to win or even play constantly if you have no hope?

Never took the field as a player EVER with the thought that my team cannot win.
How miserable would that be?

This team can win every game they play this season. You cannot play to stay close....(a la kiffin) You have to adapt your gameplan and actually coach up the players ( unlike dooley/sunseri fiasco of last year) The key is to actually play the game!

Long rant....f the "realistic view" i want my team to win every game. I am a fan win, lose, or draw. Cannot stand the we can't win against "superior talent view" :hi:

This is true. Read the thread and you can see Pandy killed us and they do have less raw talent.

Thanks for the insight. Since KY is the only SEC school in that state and they suck I think Louisville could pull some Midwest talent and viewership. Purely athletic pov though.

Stars are a measurement of raw talent and performance in high school...genetics plus coaching. Once in college, the result of years of effective coaching cannot be understated. If it were strictly a talent issue, then incoming freshmen of higher ratings would constantly be replacing upperclassmen of lower rating. Doesn't happen very often, likely because a 3 star RS senior with 5 years under his belt is physically and mentally far more capable than an incoming 5 star freshman. Although the ceiling on the 5 star guy is likely far higher, he is nowhere near fulfilling his potential coming out of high school, and the less talented but well coached senior is simply more effective on the field.

Which is simply to say that effective coaching matters greatly. Butch is clearly an effective coach, and I predict that our apparently not-so-talented D is going to be surprisingly capable. To suggest that after 6 spring practices we are seeing anything close to what will hit the field in the fall is kinda silly I think. They are still just getting their mind right and it will take quite a bit more time to actually reverse the atrophy.

This guy gets it. Even more so in line play. Exception instead of rule for a guy on line not to have two solid years in program before starting. First year needs to be all weight room all year long. Hurts if on field first year cause you can't lift and S and C as much if having to be on field during season.

North Division: Tenn, Kent, VaTech, Vandy
East Division:Ga,Fl,SC, Fl St/Miami/NC
South Division:Al,Aub,Ms,MsSt
West Division:LSU,Arky,Mizzu,aTm

Nine conference games
3 games:1 against each division foe
3 games:1 perminant game against tradional foe from each division. I.e., TN might play Al,Ga&aTm every year.
3 games:1 game vs each division against one of the remaining division teams. This game would rotate each year so you would play every team in the conference at least once every three years.

This would keep traditional rivalries in place;TN vs Al or Aub vs Ga, etc and give us a more balance league for determining tie breakers for the SEC title game.

UNC + Duke my best case scenario... than maybe the SEC might get some more basketball respect than the Mountain "can't win in march" West, as well as getting Cutcliff back, and 2 legit schools

Peyton Williams ‏@Bull_Shark_49 31m
@TheLaw20_DosUno commit to TN, then tell Coach Jones I would clear out LB's for ya at FB...lol

TheLaw20_DosUno is Caleb Kinlaw.

Peyton Williams is a 2016 6-0 230 LB/RB. probably a kid to look for in the future

I think Peyton is a teammate and good friend of '14 K Aaron Medley also. Saw something on twitter with them earlier this wk. Hope they are both Vols.
