Jimmy's and Joe's not X's and O's.

No one is doubting the coaching. There's only so much you can do with this embarrassing level or experience/talent.

We may be out matched in the talent arena. However, a lot can be accomplished with a game plan to neutralize the other sides talent advantage. It might not be realistic but I think one or both of those games could be Ws with this coaching staff. He'll we almost pulled them out with Doofus Dooley as HC!

"Mike Bajakian, Offensive Coordinator, Tennessee
Bajakian has quietly developed into one of the nation’s most underrated coordinators. The New Jersey native has followed Butch Jones at each of his coaching stops, starting with Central Michigan in 2007. Under Bajakian’s watch, the Chippewas were one of the MAC’s top offenses, as he helped tutor record-setting quarterback Dan LeFevour. After three seasons in Mount Pleasant, Bajakian joined Jones for three years in Cincinnati, and the Bearcats finished first or second in scoring in the Big East during his tenure. Tennessee’s offense is in need of repair after quarterback Tyler Bray and receivers Justin Hunter and Cordarrelle Patterson left for the NFL. The competition is tougher in the SEC, but Bajakian should ease the transition at quarterback and with the new receiving corps."

Off topic, but kudos to VolNation. I went on St. Jude's to make a donation for Shon Coleman, Auburn OL that was diagnosed with leukemia shortly after signing in 2010. I noticed that a VolNation member had just made a donation and left a kind message for Shon saying that VolNation is behind Shon in his recovery and happy he is in spring training. I was proud as a supporter of St. Jude and Shon, and even prouder to be a member of VolNation. Thank you kind sir.

I think the main thing that worries people with our schedule is that we have @Oregon, @UF, UGA, SC and @ Bama all in our first 8 games with only 3 easy wins mixed in.

How healthy will we be, how mentally strong will we be if we are 3-5 when we get to the games that are actually the make or break games for our season? @Mizz, Aub, Vandy??
These are the same players that went through a horrible season last year. CBJ is not going to allow this team to be down. He doesn't come across as that kind of coach. This is the same coach that was beat by the Vols handily and went on to win his conference. This teams mental state will be just fine. Who's to say we don't pull an upset along the way.

Damn. Good job guys. Better men than me if they could stand there without crying.

That girl's story is something else. So tough to hear and comprehend. I truly mean it when I say bless her heart.

True that. I was speaking how I would personally feel though. For some reason everyone loves LBJ even though he's probably the biggest baby in NBA history.

On the flagrant 1 he got last night the replay showed Boozer saying "You can't push me like that Bron Bron" and smirking. I laughed pretty hard... I would call him Bron Bron if I played against him

Please you would call him Mr. JAMES and you know it. LBJ does not spend his time whining about the game. He gets upset at one game and you're acting like its a pattern. Since when? Its one thing to not like a brotha but don't make stuff up and call him a compulsive whiner. What games are those?

@AdamSchefter: A #Bills contingent including their HC, GM, asst GM, Pres are scheduled to work out QB Tyler Bray in Knoxville, next Sat.

Good for him. I think Buffalo could be a great fit for him, and considering their roster he would have an early shot at playing time.

On questions about our defense.

First off, it's very, very early and really unfair to judge them right now. But, I'll answer these questions as honest as I can.

I think they're playing better, but the talent level isn't where it needs to be. That is obvious. When compared to the rest of the league, this defense, talent-wise, is in the bottom 6 or so.

I think it was a combination of both. They weren't the fastest defense to begin with and then they were thinking too much which slowed them down even more. I think the basic scheme will help, but it doesn't solve everything.

It was actually pretty good 2 years ago. If you remember that defense was put into a lot of terrible positions by the offense and special teams. If the end up in the top 50-60 I think that shows a lot of improvement.

I think they have a ways to go to get there. They weren't really as bad as the 109 indicated. I mean, there were times against Florida, South Carolina and Georgia when the defense made some really good plays and forced three-and-outs. Consistency is the guy. And it was last year. I think being more basic will help that, or at least if should.

On questions about our defense.

Based on spring practice thus far, my guess is that everyone's expectations for this team are going to be probably too high. Now, we will see where they are come end of spring and August.

Defensively, they have not tackled well thus far and they aren't getting to the qb often enough and that affects defensive play greatly.

I think the biggest thing with the defense is that they have to regain confidence and believe. I think that is coming, but honestly they will need some early success this fall in my opinion.

They aren't as talented as they need to be particularly from a speed stand point. They aren't going to be as lost as they were last year which will help that speed issue.

My expectations are to get to a bowl game. What expectations is he talking about because I've heard nothing higher, expectation wise, than 7 wins. I mean there are some people that are like "gonna win the SEC East", but I think they're just trying to show support and don't actually believe that we have a large chance of that happening.

Just my opinion, but those quotes are a snow job to buffer for bad losses next season. You don't go from a top 40 D in total defense and scoring defense to #100+ in one year with the same players and say the roster is thin as your excuse. Last season was a scheme change and techniques coaching disaster. The same or better talent level is back as it was in 2011 and 2012. If the coaching and schemes are as good as Wilcox had, then we ought to expect a top 40 D. Especially if the S&C program and team morale/focus are better as they are saying.

Not asking for miracles - total of 8 wins that includes the bowl game. That is very reasonable.

I like your get tough, no excuses attitude. It's the kind of attitude that will have us firing coaches every 2-3 years and siting in the gutter of the SEC for a decade.

If I met him, I would tell him I dislike how he plays the game.

Second of all I'm not talking one game. I've seen him play live 3-5 times and I watch a lot of basketball, in which whatever team he is on will be on ESPN 3 times a week. I've literally been 10 feet away from him cursing at a ref (in which he did all game) because he got bumped or hit.

I would b happy for 8 wins w a bowl but Im just hoping for a team that fights & doesnt back down again.

Clearly I do think the defense had more talent/depth last year than the previous two seasons. We should have been at least as good or better w more experience & depth. You cant go from middle of the pack to the bottom of the ncaa in defense without a drastic change to the team. 98% of the def was back, obviously sunseri was the drastic change.

Even w the loss of maggitt for some or all of the season we should be drastically better despite our depth and experience issues this year. NOBODY could be a worse coordinator than sal and thats a fact. He litterally "coached" (if you can call it that) the team to the worst defense in school history. So by default we have to improve some! Hopefully it will be enough to help us win some games.
