Yes it is.

I am pretty sure UT has a 4-5 strike policy and your out. Of course that depends on how good of a player you are. Da'Rick Rogers, 4-5 strikes. A kid sitting at 4th string and his 1st offense, I doubt he makes bail before he is cut loose. I would like to see alot tougher punishments for players who break the law.

SEC Commish Slive would have to step in and make a rule that applies to all of the teams evenly. Some teams put themselves at a disadvantage with the kind of punishment they hand out, especially drug violations. The problem is that not all teams would be on board with that.

It would probably have to be NCAA wide. Otherwise Slive would be setting the SEC up at a disadvantage. No doubt other coaches would use it when recruiting. I am not sure why it would be so bad a thing. Sends a simple, clear message. Don't use drugs or you won't be playing ball in college. Of course I would not mind if it were for all students. Busted twice, bye bye scholarship.

Do any remember when the so called experts like kiper and others said Leaf over Manning in the long run would be better, i think Leaf is running from the Law last time i heard from him, and Manning hasnt done to bad, another one Russell had one of the all time best workouts at his pro day, now he couldnt get a try out in a flag football team, excuse me i forgot old Roger is trying to turn the NFL into the FFL, IN 5 years old Roger will try to do away with shoulder pad.

The owners put of with Roger bc he got them more money in the revune deal. If players would have gotten a better split he would have been gone two years ago. It's always about the $$$$$$$$$

Not all of uga's incidents have been so minor as skateboard incidents either. UGA is no tougher than anyone else when you get down to it, I don't want to hear it. There has been a bunch of trouble in athens certainly not ass trival as some make out.

The only thing I can think of was Crowell's gun with a filed off serial number. Nothing like a brawl involving the police or a cheeseburger hold up.

You make it seem like its ok for them to fail a bunch of times with no punishment. They get punishment for failed drug tests it's just not severe until 3 usually. I believe Darick and Janzen were both indefinite suspensions after 3(tho Janzen was also involved in the pilot incident, to what extent we don't know, seemed to be hangin with the wrong kids). Sort of a you got to 3 and now you're in some real trouble, another and you're off the team. <-- at least that's how I've interpreted it.

I find it odd people are calling Bray better because of weak competition. Look at Brays stats against SEC opponents vs OOC opponents. Bray also benefited from a great offensive line where he was only touched a couple times all year

govols09, your presence is requested in the mock draft thread, please.

My issue with it is the fact that the punishment is not severe until they are busted 3 times. 1 time and it should be severe IMO. The fact that Da'Rick failed 4 drug tests, and had been arrested for even before those failed tests before anyone knew of the problems says alot. How many games did he miss because of failed drug tests? I don't recall any. How did covering for the kid help him at all? Telling them they get 3-5 chances is the problem IMO. If it was 1 strike and gone, it would stop or Div 2 would have alot of talent.

Agree! Too many chances for these kids to screw up. If they know up front that they have one chance, two max, the problem will alleviate itself one way or the other.

Andre Ware (set 26 NCAA records, Heisman winner, and taken 7th overall) may have something to add to the (college to NFL transition) discussion

Good post.

Fact is UF only moved the ball against KY and UT in the SEC. The FSU and SC game was given to us on a silver platter. No way you shouldn't score and win when teams give you the ball 4 or 5 times. Lville didn't do that and that was the main reason UF went from a 8 win team to a 11 win team this season. Yes, the D play big boy ball but whenever we didn't win the t/o battle UF lost the game.

It's just bs when people think just bc a team or kid didn't play in the SEC that their success should be taken with a grain of salt. If he played in the SEC we don't know what his product would be on the field but on that given night he beat an 11 win SEC team..no matter if UF didn't care or just got beat by the better team. Look at their roster 17 out of 22 starters claimed SEC offers; coaches that have won on every level and played with a chip on their shoulder. All that can win one game vs 98%of the team in CFB. Sometimes I understand why other program hate the SEC and it not because we won 8(?) BCS titles in a row or media circle jerk.

Good post as well. I don't doubt Strong as a coach at all. He just needs to prove more than one key win. That doesn't make a coach. He can recruit, has connections in FL, and he's got a good balance right now with his defense and a playmaker at QB. Not doubting the talent he's brought in either. But, it's also unfair to compare their schedule to an average SEC schedule. They needed to perform at the top for one game, and they did. So they should get some credit.

I just think there was a combination of factors. Strong knew how to stop UFs offense given the QB used his legs a lot, which Strong could handle. He faced it in practice all the time a few years back.

volinreallife, hold the presses on this point. It is a matter about which somebody, presumably in the Sports Information Dept., has been feeding Butch some dated and now factually inaccurate information. He keeps saying that "since 1927 we are the winningest program in the country." Depending on whether you define that in terms of actual wins or winning pct., it has been several years since that was true.

From 1927-2001, we were 1st in winning pct., but 2nd in wins (581), trailing Alabama by 2 victories. I-A Winning Percentage 1927-2001

After 2002, we dropped to 2nd in winning pct. behind Ohio St. and remained 2nd in wins. I-A Winning Percentage 1927-2002

After 2003, we moved back into 1st in wins (599) briefly.
I-A Winning Percentage 1927-2003

We remained 1st in wins through 2007 (I-A Winning Percentage 1927-2007). In 2008, Oklahoma passed us in total wins amassed since 1927 (I-A Winning Percentage 1927-2008).

Presently, we are third in total wins (661) since 1927, nineteen victories behind Oklahoma, and 5th in winning pct., behind Ohio St., Oklahoma, Alabama and Michigan, respectively. I-A Winning Percentage 1927-2012

I haven't watched enough Louisville football to make a judgment about Bridgewater.

I watch a lot of UL football as I grew up there and my Dad is still a big fan - Bridgewater is as good a QB and team leader as you will find at the college level

imo Strong has been highly overvalued due to him - he covers up for a lot of mistakes with UL

Poster asked Hubbs if our offense will resemble A&Ms with the pistol.

Depends on who the qb is. I think you will see alot of screens and more of a west coast style passing game and not such a vertical passing game. That's not to say they won't go deep, but I think you will always see a dump off guy and you will see more screens.

You will for sure see the pistol some.

I'm fine with this. We don't have the personnel at the WR position right now to be sending guys deep on a frequent basis. As of right now, I don't even think we really have any deep threats, actually.

Maybe not until North gets on campus. I will say a guy does not have to be 6'4 210lbs with 4.4 speed to go deep. Play calling and route running can free guys up on deeper routes. Also an OL who gives a QB time to allow the play to develop. Croom, Bowles, Blanc, Harris, Dallas, alot of our WR's could run 30-40 yard fades and make a play on the ball. JMO
