'14 GA RB Nick Chubb

Since we are taking 2 or 3 this round, I agree its probably a 1a, 1aa type thing. Its hard to say that Hurd isn't also on top of the board.

The Top247 junior running back from Cedartown (Ga.) High School said the Vols made a strong impression on him Saturday while he was in Knoxville for their junior day, and he now views Tennessee as one of his early favorites.

“It went real good,” Chubb said. “It was like I expected. It was very nice — nice coaches. They were all over me the whole time. They said I’m number one (on their list) that they want.

“I’ve always liked them. They were my first offer, and that really helped them out — that visit, how special it was.”

“I like what they’re doing down there,” Chubb said. “They’re believing, and I really feel that they’re going to win some games and turn things around there.”

On offense

“They actually had a video set up for how they run the ball, and they put my film in there (to show) how they want to use me in their offense,” said Chubb, who also holds offers from Georgia, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Penn State, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Purdue.

“They want to put me in the backfield, give me the ball and let me get downhill. And I think a lot of that. That’s what I do now.”

On playing time

“They said it’s wide open,” he said. “They need me to come, and I’ve got to work for it, but it would be mine. It’s a big deal (to me). Who doesn’t want to go play?”

On Facilities

“It was all nice,” he said. “I didn’t get to see the dorms and all, but they showed the blueprint of it — what they’re going to build — and they looked nice. It all did (catch my attention), especially the new (indoor facility). They’ve got a cafeteria inside where they eat. That’s real nice. I was surprised how nice it was.”

247...Jones is really getting some good early momentum with these kids.

I would be curious how the staff played this one. Chubb said the staff said he was #1 on their board yet the pics I saw had CBJ and CJG sitting on each side of Hurd at the BB game. It has to be tough trying to tell 2-3 kids the same thing when all of them are there on campus at the same time.

I'm not sure what the staff is telling them, but I'd tell them that I want them to be a 2 headed monster in the backfield for us.

I'd tell the 4 best RB's on our board this is the year of the octopus and we're needing 8 legs to lead us!

Don't asked me why I posted this. I don't have a logical answer. Pretty sweet though

Chubb fits this offense like a hand and glove. One cut and go north/south that has nice open field moves and another gear after 10-15 yards. Not afraid to run between the tackles. Looks solidly built to be able to pick up blitzers. I can't even begin imagine VN if Jones inked Hurd and Chubb.

Wow... I know this kid, known his dad forever, didn't realize he was rated this high, very small town in Georgia. Haven't asked or anything, but he grew up a UGA fan, so it may be an uphill battle. Great kid btw, whole family are stand up people.

Get your butt to his place ASAP wearing orange and get in his ear!

2014 Insider! Go forth and get us a Vol.:salute:

Ok if you say so, likely semantics anyway.

Not me saying so although I do concur. Would love to have Chubb as well or if we can't get Hurd. Either way. But Hurd is a very rare combination of size, speed, elusiveness. 5 star and considered top state prospect and possibly top rb in the country. His stats are absolutely insane against good to excellent competition including about 400 yds in the title game. Not belittling Chubb, Paulk or anyone else.
