IMO you can't put Vonn Bell on Dooley. Vonn Bell wants a championship and he thinks that he can get that quicker at tOSU. I don't think Dooleys firing/recruiting had any bearing on VB's decision. JMHO.

If AL had a spot, VB would be there IMO.

Not defending Dooley, he tried, he failed...he gone.

If I can recall correctly, didn't Bell's father say sometime after Bell's announcement that if Dooley had tried to actually recruit Vonn he would probably be a Vol instead of a F**keye?

You would be correct sir. His HS coach also said the same thing. Don't mean to beat a dead horse but DD did screw up alot of relationships with HS coaches especially in the western part of our state.

You can't be serious. Dooley didn't recruit Vonn Bell hard at all. It's 100% Dooley's fault Bell isn't a Vol. He didn't try but he certainly did fail, you got that right.

I am no insider by any means. I base my opinions from what I read here and on other sites. Bell clearly stated he wanted a championship. I honestly think it would not have mattered how hard he was recruited by Dooley. Yes, Dooley dropped the ball and failed to push full court for Bell. However, if UT had been more competive last year, who knows..

Dooley failed twice in this scenario. He failed to win games which would have appealed to Bell and he failed to recruit him as hard as other schools. Double fail, IMO.

Bell was a 5star who grew up a Vol fan and was in UT's backyard yet Dooley didn't make him priority #1, inexcusable. Indefensible. Dooley failed miserably in Vonn Bell's recruitment from every angle.

Dooley failed and failed miserably. On the field and in recruiting. I am in no way defending him. Glad he is gone.

IMO VB was destined for tOSU or Bama regardless.

Hard to say, but since Dooley did such a horrible job....we will never know. I think had Dooley made him a priority, he would be a Vol today...JMO

Saw on the rivals recruiting board today that Jalen Hurd has Bama & Florida out front & TN is in 5th place. Don't know how accurate this may be but I hope this is wrong.

Uhhhh, I can and will put it on Dools. God knows Bell's father and coach sure as hell did. I wouldn't dispute that he failed. I would dispute that he tried.

If you are talking about the school logos, pay no attention to that. I'm pretty sure they are randomly ordered and don't have anything to do with actual school preference. You could get on tomorrow and UNC could be first, they change all the time.

Pretty sure Bama doesn't want him as a RB, so they are probably not his leader, or anywhere toward the top. Hurd wants to be a RB, and will mostly only entertain offers from schools that would take him as a RB.

Believe TW said Bama was out because they didn't want him at RB. OSU was his favorite at the Tenn/Florida game this fall, hopefully CBJ has changed his mind and made a great impression.

Good quote from Hurd from 247

“He’s a great guy,” Hurd said of Jones. “He’s honest. I mean, he’s not going to tell you any bullcrap, basically. He’s going to tell you what’s up right to your face, so he’s a good guy.

“He’s told me that (I’m important), but he’s just told everybody in Tennessee that — just how important it is to stay home and be a part of this community.”

“Coach Jones, all the new coaching staff, they’ve been great,” Hurd said. “I really enjoyed today. As soon as signing day was over, I talked to Coach Jones, I talked to Coach Graham, I talked to the offensive coordinator (Mike Bajakian), and everything was great. They’re showing me love, and I really enjoyed it.”

“There really is (a swagger),” Hurd said. “Coming in, you just get a different feeling. How they had the game set up, you always want to be on an itinerary, but it was just chill. And to have a chance to interact with the coaches, they’re, like, just having fun and stuff. I really enjoyed it.”

I think you're wrong.. It's been well documented that both his father and his hi school coach said with some effort on drooleys part, he would have been a Vol.. I'm not doubting he wants a cham-peen-ship but I hope a Big 10 title will satisfy him because that's all he is likely to get at OSU..

He would've got one quicker at Bama, thats one reason I aint buying that line..

this is just so wrong.

EDIT: I see others have beat me to it.

Man w Neal gone after this year it would set Hurd up as the feature rb

That's why he will be a Vol if Jones and the Vols can show improvement and more wins in the fall IMO. It really does set up for Jalen to be the feature back by his soph year with shared time as a true freshman.

Hurd knows this. The only thing he is waiting to see is if CBJ can give us 6 -7 W's. He just needs to see stability within the organization and that the coach's course of action will be effective within the SEC. If he can see these things, he will be a Vol! No one else will matter.

If we cannot get things done on the field and fall completely apart, he will probably play somewhere else.

It's that simple, guys.
