Thought you guys were talking about Pearl.

I doubt it. But, as long as he can find work in the NBA, I would guess that he wouldn't have any interest in coming back to the NCAA. Still, I say no.

We were talking about any coach that's had a show/cause. I honestly don't know. I think Pearl can get a pretty good job, even if it's not a Power 6 conference. However, Pearl might not even want to leave. He's got it pretty good right now.

What about Tony Jones? He probably won't be able to get a head coaching gig in college, but someone might call wanting an assistant.

I don't know dude. Jones didn't receive a show cause despite being the associate head coach. Makes me think he has a better chance.

As for Pearl, I have no clue what he wants to do. I'm kind of under the impression that he would not be interested in coaching unless it was at UT. Then again, that would be very convenient to say if he knew he weren't going to be hired by another major program again.

I don't think Bruce is the worst guy, but he's lost the benefit of the doubt.

I'm pretty sure Jones got at least a year.

And Bruce claims to love Knoxville, which could also be a convenient thing to say considering his pickle. I guess we will see.

Yea jones had a one year, and still hasn't returned to the college game.

What's the difference? A show cause order is a show cause order....if someone is willing to hire an assistant that has had a show cause order, why wouldn't they hire someone that has been a head coach?

Disagree. A head coach is much more visible than an asst coach. An asst does what the head coach tells them to do. Sampson took the brunt of those penalties just like Pearl did. Pearl's assts (Jones, Forbes, Shay) only got a one year show cause.

Pat Forde stated in an article that he didn't think Sampson would ever coach Div I ball again. We'll see. I don't think Pearl's transgressions were as bad as what Sampson did. Some mid-major will go after him. A major program looking for a turnaround and wanting to turn a profit will go after him eventually I think. A passage of time usually allows people to forgive. Pearl isn't hurting for money so he can pick and choose. He'll find work somewhere and won't have to take the first thing offered.

Jones, Shay and Forbes all got a one year show cause. Their show cause penalty expired last year.

Jones is still the head coach at Alcoa High School. Forbes is the head coach at Northwest Fla St (a juco school) and Shay is an asst there. That's why Chris Jones ended up there because he couldn't make the grades to get into UT.

I think Forbes and Shay will catch on with a Div I school eventually. Both of them are solid asst coaches. As I said, time usually allows people to forgive. They aren't getting paid that much, but they are right on the beach in Destin, FL. It could be worse.

Always nice to see CBP on tv rocking Tennessee orange. He's on now wearing UT colors. Sure miss the guy TBA was always rocking during his tenure.

This is sort of like having a guy kick you in the nuts and then congratulating him on how good his form was.

Prepare to get blasted. You can't say anything positive about Bruce without getting attacked.

Dang it you beat me too this. I was going to say that every time I see Pearl do a halftime show, he is always wearing orange.

Not really. I am sure you can get volunteers to show you the difference. Better yet let Bruce show you.

It is a little over one year until Pearl time.

It was nice to have U.T. mens basketball at #1, for the first time. Even though it lasted only for a week. We got plenty of buzz and positive attention that week.

It was nice to be an underdog and win on a regular basis, against the likes of Memphis, Florida, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kentucky.....etc.

It was nice to see TBA at full capacity and rocking.

It was nice to see us "on prime time" ESPN game of the week and not just on ESPN #2 at an odd viewing time.

It was nice to enter the tournament and get past the first weekend.

I think that by now, we would have had a lull with Pearl because the recruiting part had fallen off. Not saying we would have losing seasons but there may have been an NIT appearance by now......not necessarily making the NCAA each season.

Going into Saturday's game, I'd feel quite confident in a home victory if Bruce were still at the helm. I haven't given up on Cuonzo yet, but I'll be anxiously keeping my fingers and toes crossed. Even sans Noel, the Evil One is still likely to out-coach the Cuonz.

Is he doing a personal appearance at a grocery store or something?

I actually liked the guy, but people's inability to grasp what he managed to do to the program because of basically a big ego is flat out astounding. He's a Vawl for Life the same way a pest control guy is an advocate for ants.

Yup, all he had to do was tell the truth and he would most likely still be here. Slap on the wrist violation.
