Our board says UT is very much in it with UF and OSU. Vandy board says we are not and Hurd is actually a Vandy lean right now and he is not even seriously considering the Vols. Should be a fun one to watch play out.

How did Leon mcquay turn out for vandy ? :birgits_giggle:

The minute they land a 5* impact player , I'll donate season tickets to the boys and girls club of Knoxville

I'd love to get Hurd. The only thing I keep hearing/reading is that he was really impressed with Urban Meyer. We definitely need a couple of quality RB's next year.

Even though getting Hurd would be huge...If we land Treyvon Paulk and Kinlaw or Chubb, I don't know if we would NEED him. Want? Yes...but we have so much time that landing 3 RB in this class should be no hard task.

Normally your posts are pretty good, but this is a swing and a miss....highly ranked RB recruit that is instate...always try to land those folks!

I just don't see a scenario where Hurd isn't one of the top targets for CBJ in '14. He's made a point about winning the state and Hurd is what? a top 20 recruit? Even if we don't NEED him(which we will), getting him on board would speak volumes about CBJ and send a good message.

Keep thinking what you want to think

Seriously, you guys get one winning season and you think that you're on your way to being an SEC elite. You beat Tennessee once and it's "the changing of the guard". Vanderbilt has beaten Tennessee an average of once a decade since like 1930. I honestly don't even really consider them rivals because the series is so lopsided. Vandy shouldn't even deserve the privilege to be our rival.

Living in the past I got a good laugh out of that, but who said anything about a powerhouse? Isn't like we needed a powerhouse to beat the vols last year, just a bunch of 50's and 60's ranked recruiting classes from the bobby Johnson days. But if the vols want to live off want was done in the pass and not care about the current times I don't think anyone in the sec would mind that. Back to the topic hurd will probably sign with Tosu IMO.

Tradition doesn't mean **** to people that don't have it.

I think it's funny that the only teams that say tradition doesn't mean anything are the teams that don't have any. Vandy has beaten the vols twice since these kids have been a live. They know that.

Tradition means more then what you did last year. Kids that attends UT know they are going to get to met greats like Manning, Berry, etc... History has a way of repeating itself also. It's not like the vols have been as bad as they were under Dooley for long now. Heck we won the east five years ago and three times last decade.

This "living in the past" thing cracks me up.

Vanderbilt has nothing to look back on, so they like to play that card.

Every time they look back, they see a school that has struggled to win through out it's history.

If Vandy had a win streak as impressive as UT's over Vandy at any point in their history, I'm sure that would come into an argument, but that argument can't be made.

But go ahead, pretend like y'all can hang in the SEC for an extended amount of time.

Now let's be honest, my orange-blooded friend. Vandy has a tradition of historical excellence in football; you simply have to dig all the way back to the Cretaceous Period to find it.

I get wha he is saying. He never said we shouldn't make Hurd target number one and ball out for him, but he realizes that with the guys we are in with strong not getting Hurd will not ruin the class. I'd give a toe to get Hurd locked down, but I won't call the class a failure if we don't manage to get him
