Coming off of a monstrous 2012 season, it is easy to say that Peterson is the better back. However, let us look at their productivity over the last three years since Foster has only been a starter since the 2010 season.
Peterson has a combined 4,365 yds. rushing and 697 yds. pass receiving for 39 total touchdowns. See Adrian Peterson Stats - Minnesota Vikings - ESPN
Foster has 4,264 yds. rushing, 1438 yds. receiving and a total of 47 touchdowns. See Arian Foster Stats - Houston Texans - ESPN
Peterson may be the better back but I would take Foster as a fantasy football pick. Furthermore, Peterson just had a career year and will, in all probability, approach mere mortal status again next year. Historically, there almost always has been a big falloff after a 2,000 yd. campaign.
