'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

Clemson is definitely the top competition for Lawson. He said he speaks to either coach Elliot or Hobby "everyday." He likes the proximity to home.

At this time, it is difficult to say how the de-commitment of receiver Ryan Jenkins -- his friend and former teammate -- from Clemson will impact Lawson. The good news for Clemson is that Lawson also knows Jenkins' brother, Clemson defensive back Martin Jenkins.

"I mean, I don't know … me and Ryan are really good friends," Lawson said. "I also know Martin pretty good. He's cool. He would always come to our Milton games."

According to Lawson, he also hopes to make official visits to North Carolina, Ole Miss and Tennessee. He said he doesn't have any visit dates set.

That last statement is confusing. Hasn't Lawson already set a date to visit UT? Or, am I thinking of someone else?

Yes, I think Keith is confused or that's an old interview. Lawson has set an OV on 1/18 to UT. 247 even lists it on their site, the place Keith works haha

:hi:

The article was posted 9 hours ago according to the 247. I think Keith is very confused or just does not pay attention to details lol.

I think having Foreman and Swafford in next weekend helps a lot. Those guys are lifelong vols. Hopefully they can hit it off with some of the uncommitted guys and get in their ears about why they love UT.

Spoke with Carl Lawson Sr. on Friday night who confirmed an official visit to Auburn on Feb. 1. That is the final weekend before signing day.

Auburn four-star commit Tashawn Bower is also planning an unofficial visit that weekend. And I expect Dooly Co. (Ga.) five-star Montravius Adams to officially visit that weekend also.

Every article I have seen about Carl is that if not Auburn then he is going to Clemson. Why is this?

Because we haven't won more than 6 games in the last three years. You don't get hype without earning it and sports outlets won't talk about you if you aren't winning.

All of that is void however if you are USCw, Ohio State, or Notre Dame.

Ya but we are still talked about with Bell and Green so I was just wondering why no one was saying Lawson to Tennessee

Lawson is VERY quiet about his recruiting so unlike prospects who have said they are interested in UT, Lawson has probably said something along the lines of "I'm looking at some other teams as well" leaving the deduction to the reporter/interviewer.

Alright thanks for clarifying

What do you think? You think Tennessee is ahead of Clemson?

I think it honestly comes down to his visits. Whoever can impress him the most and make him feel the most at-home while offering him what he seeks will get him.

In that perspective we can probably offer him all the playing time he wants so that has to give us some sort of edge.

I wouldn't disagree with your statment in the past. Jeff Lee moved on and sold Auburn Rivals to Jay Tate, a former Alabama newpaper journalist, and Justin Hokanson. Tate will offer insights, but not proffer firm statements without verification.
