'13 TN OL Brett Kendrick (UT Commit)

Will the other kid playing tackle be recruited next year Patrick Dalton for CAK.He is a JR is 6'5 318.

I'd much rather the Vols keep Reeves Koehler and plug him into one guard and the Wiesman kid from Cincinnati in at the other guard. Instead of pulling the offer from Koehler, they need to pull the offer from Kendrick and tell him that Tennessee Tech has a spot for him.

Less future issues cutting a kid in Hawaii than right next door. Pr nightmare with area coaches. Blame Dooley not butch. Reeves was also not official commit. I question him being elite with those offers. Not an elite list

I advocate for keeping Tennessee talent in Tennessee more than anyone. I don't necessarily agree with the Kendrick commitment, but pulling the offer would not be great for one of CBJs first major decisions in terms of future instate recruiting. Also watch out because his brother will probably come at you for saying anything objective, not as bad as MzTerry though.

247 article says he's a Vol. Coaching change not a big deal to him.[/QUOTE

Looking at his offer list I wouldn't think the coaching change would bother him. Not trying to be smart just realistic. Still glad he's a Vol

Nobody wasted time recruiting Kendrick because he was a Vol lock. After Dooley got fired, Clemson and Virginia Tech started recruiting him again.

Not sure you understand the meaning of the word. Guess I shouldn't be surprised from someone who forms an opinion based on what someone else tells him.

Still can't believe Pittman wasn't retained.

If we could have 2 OL coaches I'm sure he would be, but Jones has his guy he's been with for 6 years. Not saying I agree, but I can also see where you want your OC and OL coach to be very familiar. That's why you see Chaney and Pittman both going to Arky.

I am going to wait to comment much on CBJ's decision to swap out Chaney and Pittman for his guys. I have noticed alot of comments from both our side and the Arkansas side and it sure seems like Arkansas thinks they got the better end of this. Best offense(numbers wise) maybe in UT history and the most improved line I have ever seen. Both guys proven in the SEC. We are trading that for a roll of the dice IMO. We'll see how it plays out.

It cracks me up how many people on here think this is a bad take...that's clearly based on nothing more than how many stars he has...

I suggest those of you that feel that way should look up the film if him playing basketball...it's incredible how well he moves for 6'5" 295...

IMO he is the 3rd best OL in TN this year and definitely SEC material

Difference in OL scheme guys.

Never really understood this line of thinking. There is only a handful of blocking schemes in football. Like another poster stated, you had 2 coaches that are proven SEC coaches who excelled at what they did & traded them for unknowns.

Unknown to us, not CBJ. Give him some time. :hi:

Ignore abar, he's so enamored with Morris' stars he can't see anything else.

This seems to be some people's mantra in life. Hit the Volnation 'sissy button' so they can stick their head in the sand and live in a self delusional bubble.

I don't know what's worse using an ignore button or using a grade school tactic of recruiting others to use the ignore button. Both are beyond pathetic.

Also worth noting, most of these posters that subscribe to this line of thinking also have no backup(film, credible source, etc.) as to why they believe what they do. My guess is abar, like many with common sense realize that the diamond in the rough stuff rarely exists and there is a reason Morris is more highly rated than Kendrick. Even if we keep Kendrick for PR purposes doesn't mean we shouldn't go after Morris or Koehler for that matter. Need to get as many solid O-lineman as we can for SEC play.

Not going to argue about numbers but you do have a good chance of at least 8 guys from this offense making a NFL roster. Look at the experience that the offense had going into this year...4 of 5 ol starting their 3rd year together...a jr qb who started midseason his frosh year. If you want to judge Chaney at Tennessee then why not count all of the years? As an oc he does get pass happy and has struggled to run effectively when they had to run. He doesnt use screens or counters to slow down a defense instead relying on a reverse or jet sweep.

Did you think Cooach Pittman was good at his job? He chose Brett Kendrick to be one of his linemen. No need to worry about BK or Sanders committments because they are both from Tennessee and already bleed Orange...imo easy call on both.

Morris on the other hand was rumored to be playing hard to get and had a new favorite team every week. He was offered, did not sign on, and then Coach Pittman moved on. Maybe the coaches are better talent evaluators for their teams and systems...

Give me the home grown VFL linemen (who are also big, agile, and athletic) every day. These two will no doubt "Give their all for Tennessee" every play because they are Vols already!

I have a lot of posters on my ignore list because they attack others and rant irrationally rather waste my time... Life and my time to read VN is too short to suffer internet tough guys rudeness.

As far as size and talent, this kid has all the intangibles that you look for in an Offensive Lineman. I feel that Tennessee offered this kid based solely on his potential to be great

He needs to fix a few bad habits. It may be his personality, but his demeanor between plays is depressing. I may just be mistaking his demeanor for laziness, but he is lazy in his stance, lazy between plays, lazy in the huddle.....etc.

With all that said, when this kid plays hard, he is a force! Glad he'll be in orange, but this demeanor between plays needs to be resolved. JMO

Edit: had to add this: "you can either be a drain or a fountain"

Hard to put a lot of stock in any of our coaches when you see 5 years of suckage. Thing is I don't pretend to know the intricate details as to why some of these guys pass or go after other prospects. Personally, I don't think a lot of other posters do either. I go by what I see and the tidbits of info I get from credible sources (Skeet, Volquest reporters, etc.)

And what I see is a coach use to playing with 3 star talent using the system nonsense to tell talented O-linemen to look elsewhere. I'm all about giving CBJ a chance, but it's decisions like the Koehler one that makes one raise an eyebrow. These are the types of decisions a person can point back at if CBJ can't turn this around for us.

I don't know why but I just feel that all our OL should be big nasty, wanna hit some effers in tha mouth dudes from all over the state of tennessee. If he's got the size and speed I say keep this guy. Dooley might not been able to coach but he could evaluate talent at a decent level.
