Serious question. Any truth to rumor that UT will interview Petrino?

Sure hope so at this point. I do not think Fedora will take it. Like Louisville I guess football jobs at basketball schools are better than us now.

Would take Petrino and not look back.

You starting to believe, buffaloblue? We've been trying to let all of our recruiting forum friends in on the epic hiring that is about to take place, but no one wants to listen. It's about time for Hart to play his role in this masterpiece. Enjoy the ride, folks! Great times are ahead very soon!

This was fun for a while but now its annoying. This is frustrating enough with your nonsense.

Cheek interviewing Strong had to be the agreement/strong arm by Cheek to let Hart have that 18 mil. Way to go Cheek.

Hire Fulmer. Bring back an all Vol staff. Bout as crazy as the gruden rumors....but here we are folks.

Louisville fans say that Strong got a 5 year extension paying $4.5 million per year plus performance bonuses that could get his deal closer to $5 million per year.

Strong went from being very ecstatic about the job yesterday to turning down the job tonight. His new contract with Louisville will be announced this week we hear and noway was Tennessee going to match that offer anyway. Strong made a lot of calls today in regards to cheek and not sure if that factored in to his decision or not. One thing i do believe factored in to his decision was he would not be allowed to bring or hire any assistant that is being investigated by the ncaa. The information came straight from DB, i will not spell his name out for you.
Yesterday evening his plan was to address his team today then come to Knoxville. DB also said that Strong is the only coach that has been offered up to this point, meaning yesterday evening, which means Gundy did not have an offer from Tennessee. Also heard Hart was not very impressed with fedora.

I think when all the details come out about this, some people will be very upset with some of the old money boosters, i will not tell the reason because i don't want to go down that road, but it will get out at some point. Hart ignored them and went after his man anyway, Kudos to Hart for that.

I seriously don't know what to think.... embarassing and humiliating from top to bottom. Everybody needs to be cleaned out. The whole AD, Chancellors, and everyone else involved.

UT was quoted as to having the best job available and still can't find anybody. Its a joke.

I guess I'll be having several beers tonight...

If that's true then wow. No way you match that.

So in this "smokescreen" Hart is pis*ing off fanbases, wasting other coaches time, parking planes off runways, and putting himself in a position to be hung from the gay street bridge all to be the hero in the end? This is your story? Alrighty then.

Nice post, points out exactly how silly the "smokescreen" theory is.

If those numbers are accurate, I'm glad we did not get Strong. I do not think he is worth that along with any other coach who does not have a Championship on his résumé ( and I don't mean a Big East one ). I say we take a hard run at Fedora and hope for the best. If I remember correctly he has never had a losing record.

So who do the boosters want then? Fulmer?

This.

Seriously, this kind of stuff if getting to the point of trying to convince grown adults that Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are real...

It's the million dollar question. The academic thing has been an issue. I don't know if that was the reason or sole reason for Strong's decision.

There are alot of shocked people this evening that Strong said no.

~Hubbs

If you havent seen some of the TN players tweets, well, its pretty sad. They are crakin some jokes about the search. I have to agree with what another poster said in that this could be seen as a reflection in how leadership has let the players down.

The academic issues are not just the C- issue. When you have 450K applicants and only 40000 or so get admitted - and half of those have a 27 on the ACT with high SAT scores - then you almost begin to feel like we are the new Vandy. I can understand the desire to be a top 25 academic school but there are several universities in this country. Are we seriously wanting to become like a Ivy league school?

Any idea what names are next?

Well now what, Hart has made us a huge joke in the media and I'm sure there are PLENTY of recruits that are taking note of how bad we look right now.

I don't care if Hart wasn't "impressed" with Fedora, because none of us are impressed with Hart. Hire that man now and end this garbage.

If the 4.5M for Strong is true, he's smart to stay, as much as I hate it. I don't see anyone out there left tonget excited about.
