Louisville was more talented then Syracuse and got curb stomped. Also more talented then Uconn. I'm a UT fan, I want them to win NC's. Saban wins with top talent, as long as Strong can recruit top talent just like Saban, he will win at UT.
As far as deficiency goes, I don't think he is as good of a defensive guy, as Chavis. I would rather have him, he is a UT guy.
Saban had more talent than La-Monroe, this year he had more talent than Texas A&M, when he lost at SCAR he had more talent. So your point would be????
And Chavis isn't a better Defensive guy than Strong. Who would you trust late in the game to call your defense? I don't trust Chavis to close out a game.
The fact is Georgia got the W against them and bama beat Georgia, so I'd say that makes them 3rd at best. As far as checking resumes, what are you talking about?
Chavis is terrible at the end of games. Take off the orange shades. Strong coached up a defense that stopped the high powered offenses of Oklahoma and Ohio State with all the chips on the table. The Ohio State game was a masterpiece on Troy Smith and crew.
Okay so Florida beat TEXAS A&M who beat Bama. Now what????
Florida's quality wins: LSU, SCAR, FSU, Texas A&M
Bama's quality wins: LSU, UGA........soft schedule to the max
Common opponents: LSU- Florida looked much better in their win
Texas A&M- Florida dominated Johnny Football and crew second half(50 yds total in the second half) plus they got the win. Bama lost a tight game
UGA- Bama pulled a tight win, Florida lost a tight ball game.
Bama shouldn't have been ranked ahead of Florida throughout the year if the BCS was any good.
I firmly believe that Florida team would beat Bama. That defense would not allow 300+ rushing yards.
I'm starting to warm up to Strong if he is the recruiter you guys think he is. Tennessee is definitely lacking in talent compared to the big boys of the SEC, especially on defense where we hardly have a single playmaker.
He's going to need to be a A1 recruiter because I don't think he's the kind of coach that is going to out-coach the other coaches of the SEC.
Although I still think Gundy would be the kind of coach to get us over the hump and onto the next level.
See what aTm is doing with air raid type offense. Hire a superstar DC and we will win a lot of games.
Kinda funny how Florida and LSU used their speed on defense to shut it down. Gundy isn't the coach Sumlin is either. Don't fool yourself.....
What superstar DC are you going to get? It's a lot easier to get a good offensive coordinator than a good defensive guy. I would go after a Malzahn protege if I were going to the spread attack or go after an Oregon guy. For a pro-style attack I would try to raid the Stanford or Washington staffs. Or maybe look at the Oregon State coordinator if I could. I personally hope we run an aggressive pro-spread type of system that goes after a team's weakness over and over again.
Again, I will have to disagree with you. Sumlin and Gundy are both air raid offensive guru's. Neither of them appear to know defense.
I would hire Chavis, or maybe the DC at vandy.
Vandy has a very good DC. Chavis won't leave and I personally hate his schemes. I'd go after the UCLA D-coordinator. And I'd hire Butch Davis as a talent consultant.
You do realize that Strong supporters could post 10 of these that are in his favor this year right?
Let me guess...those are irrelevant...he won them in talent alone right?
