We agree on the character of Franklin but I disagree on his recruiting. Put it this way, if Dooley had done his job at recruiting Franklin would be eating sloppy seconds. I'm sure you read the startling expose that 32 out of 37 Tennessee high school coaches said they would not recommend a kid play for Dooley. Considered his arrogant attitude not conducive to a players development.

Franklin is beating out schools like UGA, UA, AU, Ole Miss, UF, etc.....as well as UT.

Granted, they're not all 5 stars but c'mon man...they guy can recruit. Is it "hot sauce" recruiting? Yeah, probably...but it's apparently working.

...and no, I am not surprised at all about Dooley's apparent disconnect with Tennessee HS coaches.

Chris Low just reported on the nation that Vandy has a presser for tonight that JF will get extension and raise to over 3mil a year & upgrade to facilities.

Awesome, glad for Vandy. Maybe it will create some jobs in Nashville.

I take this to mean you are implying we will hire Fisher? That was my point. Rucker kept saying Fisher was at the top of the list but now he's saying we aren't interested.

Thanks for the info. I had not heard that from Rucker.

Honestly I think we will be fine with any of these 3: Fisher, Strong, or Fedora.

I like Strong although I'm sure some would disagree. But how many of those who disagree on Strong would disagree with Tony Dungee, who went on air recently to say paraphrased that there were several scary good coaches out there and the one coach that he would not enjoy coaching against would be Charlie Strong.

I'm not doubting that Franklin can recruit, just noting that things are in his favor to make it appear that he's killing it on the trail. The 25 man limit is probably the biggest boost to Vandy. It basically leaves 30-35 SEC caliber players on the table each year that schools like Vandy have access to. I will give Franklin credit for being a motivator, breathing some new life into Vandy, and yes, being an able coach in the SEC. Will it continue, sure. But when we get a coach and staff that can lock down Tennessee it's going to be a rough road for Franklin. Hot sauce cools after people have had a taste. Tradition just keeps rolling. BTW, I appreciate your candid input.:hi:

LOL, according to my wife I can be a little "too candid." :)

My opinion, he'll be at VU for another 2-4 years, then take another job outside of the SEC. I think if he's already declining interest (he reportedly declined buffers from AU, Ark, & us--reportedly) in other SEC jobs, he likely won't move within the SEC unless it's somewhere he can immediately recruit at the highest levels with the greatest of ease, i.e. UF, UA, UGA, etc.

I'm actually surprised that Cal didn't reach out to him...that would be a job I'd be interested in, in a heartbeat if I were Franklin, but then, he's an East Coast guy.

In a couple of years, he'll have his choice of jobs and will have improved the image of Vanderbilt exponentially, IMO. He'd KILL in the Big-10...

No doubt he's got a bright future in coaching. It would be interesting to see what he could do at a bigger, tradition rich football school. One thing I think we can all agree on is that he would not be a good fit at UT. To Kiffinesque.

He's going to get lit up in the SEC. He's coaching well at Vandy no doubt but people have underestimated them for two years. He's also benefited from two bad coached football programs(Auburn and Tennessee) with more talent. He also avoided playing any of the west power schools. So don't go too crazy for him.

Bryce Brown playing impressively. Damn, I wish he had stayed.

Mentions his HS in the starting line-up announcement.

Mike Gundy has a teleconference tonight. Should be interesting.

Not football related but your avi brings me back a couple of years. I was fortunate to be a part of the "Hurt" video process. I was in Memphis at the time and our Nashville office sent me the video for final yay or nay approval. I did not like the song or the video. Just seemed to sad. I must have watched the video 300 times over a weekend. Long story short, the video hit the waves.

People think Derrick Green is on Brown's level. They don't realize the type of talent Brown was/is at RB. He's just as talented as Trent Richardson. And he runs violent too.

Probably the most powerful song/video ever.

Tennessee has not spoken at this point to FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher. I had mentioned earlier today that maybe it was possible for Tennessee to do two interviews today. I have no reason to believe they did a second interview and they definitely didn't talk to Fisher.

Things also seem to have gone quiet in Stillwater, OK after alot of people were chatty this morning.

Charlie Strong continues to indicate to people that he feels like his interview went really well.

I hope things stay quiet in Oklahoma and Strong ends up being our guy.

Think about the potential offense we would've had if he stayed: Tyler Bray, Cordarelle Patterson, Bryce Brown, DaRick Rogers, Justin Hunter and Mychal Rivera. All behind maybe the best offensive line in the SEC.

Amazing.
