When did they start determining the winners of games by how many yards your defense held the opponen to?

Last I looked, the team with more points win the game.

Getting worse? The defense may have taken a step back, which also could be the fact he has played a TON of Freshmen & Sophomores the past 2 years, but he went 7-6 last year & is now 10-2.

When someone uses the term "defensive rankings" you use the stats....Defensive rankings are done by ypg....not saying its right or wrong

& now you go to the ultimate excuse, he sucks b/c he goes 7-6 in the Big East but he isn't any good too b/c he built the roster up & is 10-2 now. No matter what Strong does you don't like him. Just move along.

I didn't use the term defensive rankings - here is the quote, "here is a link - all you have to do is click on it and count - you will then see they are nowhere close to top 25 in pts per game"

i think i was pretty clear in the way i was gauging defenses

and to tux's point - you gauge your defense in yds all day long - all i care about is how many points they give up - that determines whether i win or lose

People act like every school and conference is on the same level. Strong did extremely well with the mess he inherited. He did better with worse than Fedora. Fisher has hthe very best instate talent in one of the worst conferences and still can get it the national title game. Lost 4 or 5 games last year? If you take him out of Florida and put him in the toughest conference, people think he'll do better than he has at FSU? What's his offense that he's in charge of done? He'd be 8 wins this year without Stoops.

quite the contrary - great coaches consistently dominate lower levels of competition - look at urban meyer - he was very good at bowling green and very good at utah

strong just hasnt been that

3 years after inheriting a MESS he is dominating his competition. Name one available coach that is dominating his competition more.

you act live Lville was a dumpster fire - prior to strong's hire they had been to a bowl 10 of the last 12 years and won 9+ 6 of the last 12

craigthorpe was a bad coach but that program was not as bad as many on strong's side make it out to be

They were 15-21 in those years. Same as out last 3 years that equals a dumpster fire.

dominated? he won a 4 way tie in a terrible conference - not sure that is dominated - how about the coaches of the other 3 schools?

who did it all in less time and with less resources?

i just think that is a very short term view - 10 out of 12 years in a bowl game for a big east caliber school is just not a program at hits knees waiting for a savior

for UT, yes, but we are not talking about UT

Of course if the qb throws a couple of pic 6 or turns it over four times by dropping the ball on the ground, that is on the D as well. Sometimes points can be misleading. Yards and creating TO's is what makes a good D.

Jason Higdon from FoxSports is saying that Strong is in Louisville recruiting and did not interview with Tennessee.

I don't know why, but I've got a bad feeling we are about to do something dumb.
