I won't flame you...as a matter of fact, I agree with you. Something isn't right with the whole situation. In past years when we were hiring and contacted Gruden to gauge interest, he politely and quickly said thanks, but no thanks. That didn't happen this time. There are NUMEROUS people on here that seem to be in the know and have different sources, yet their info lined up with each other. I personally think it has something to do either with the last payment from Tampa Bay and Gruden wanting to stick them for every last penny, and/or Hart wanted to beat his chest to show who makes the hire in this program and completely botching the whole thing. I DO NOT believe that it fell through because of assistants' money, his money, or control issues, and surely not because Gruden had no interest. I continue to think back about the groundwork for the agreement laid out initially by the OGs, and how they said repeatedly that at some point things would not look good, then all of a sudden Hart comes in to save the day, so that he gets credit for the hire. I just can't get that piece of info out of my head.

With all that said, if it's not Gruden, then fine. Let's move on and please hire Charlie Strong. He would kill it in recruiting here THIS YEAR with a short amount of time. I have no doubt that he would pull Hatcher, Quick, maybe Ryan White, Bell, D. Green, North, possibly Ramsey, possibly Lawson.

Gundy is a good coach. I just don't like his offense.

Doesn't it feel good to have this as a coaching list: Gundy, Fisher, Strong

As opposed to last time: Dooley, Sumlin(would've been great), Calhoun

Fisher lost to NC State, Dooley beat NC State
Gundy lost to Baylor
Strong lost to UConn
Fedora lost to Wake Forrest

If 1 game makes or breaks a coach then Tennessee is screwed. Judging a coach on 1 game is idiotic. Hell Nick Saban lost to UL Monroe.

I just have to say that I'm sitting back and enjoying this week as it unfolds. I really like all the candidates that are being reported as showing interest. Nothing is ever 100%, but I think an argument could be made for every candidate, as to why they should get the job. Yes, I even like Golden. I've been impressed with him for the last couple of years. He carries himself well, and I think he would recruit well also. He would be down my list a ways, but my point is it looks like we're going to win no matter who we get. This is sooooo much better than the last search!!!!!!

OK so not only does jmoore call my post dumb but now I am stupid. Look you guys can throw all this Shiz against the wall you want to but it aint stickin. Jim Mora Jr. would a good hire if he would accept. He is a good young coach who is not making what he is worth and has NFL head coach exp.

If we get Gundy then we need to bring in a great DC
If we get Strong then we need a great OC.
Im still leaning towards Strong because he has had the SEC experience .

Cant believe we are to the point of being disappointed with coaches who have been to BCS games and won major conference titles in the last 2 years.

Again, are they my first choice, no, but to be disappointed by these names when they are MASSIVE upgrades is something I dont completely get.

Now that I have said that, my first question if I am Dave Hart to Jimbo Fisher and Mike Gundy, is who are you hiring as Defensive Coordinator and can you get him. That list determines if they get hired.

I ask Strong the same thing about offense. Give me a realistic list.
