Yep, and "unnamed" sources from the AD saying Gruden has ruled himself out of the search, in my opinion, is in no way shutting the door on this.
With as much as he blew the lid off with his Thursday night article, it sounds like people reached out to him/gave him just enough to write a follow up taking some of the momentum off the deal. Yet, without Dave Hart being quoted directly, just how much should those "unnamed sources" be trusted?
In my opinion - not much. I think they wanted him to write a follow up deflecting from the search to slow it down, since he was far and away the most credible person feeding into the pursuit in the first place. Yet again, the pattern just seems so obvious. He got too close, and they needed some time behind the scenes to take some heat off of this thing - thus why more vague reports have been flying out since about other potential candidates.
I'll say it again, until Dave Hart or Gruden directly release statements or another coach is trotted out to take over the team, I still believe Gruden is very much in play and the likely next coach.
I have a suspicion that volnation fan-base is a very minute part of the TN majority and most of what we have read/experienced here has gone mostly unnoticed by the vast majority.
...unfortunately
If what Ole Ron posted is true then Hart should terminated.

Spot on. Hart isn't Hamilton, and he isn't about to be run rough shod over by anyone, Haslem included. I don't care what the so-called Gruden insiders say, cause their talking outta their ass.
Carter, this kind of power struggle has been going on for years at schools. It is a tough situation. For the amount if money that I heard a Haslam was willing to pledge, I can see why they wanted their input to be heard. Serious money. It's like when people donate big money to a school's department or to a library or something. They earmark it for a specific reason because that is what is important to then. Tough situation, but the AD and boosters must be on the same page. Both have to help each other.
Read his second article closely. He's reporting what the other "reports" are saying. He isn't providing any source of his to say that Gruden is out.
Most of the time, yes. But I can tell you that I have discussed this situation with quite a few fans over the last few weeks, and not many if any at all are on VN. Word spread pretty quickly outside the Internet.
It is true. You could probably pull up his interviews on TSR, 104.5 and 102.3 from the last couple days. He was on each of those stations and more than once on TSR, not sure how many times on the others. Told the same story each time. He was told by his sources the assistant pay was the sticking point and Hart wouldn't budge. He was very adamant and extremely believable in his story.
Maybe someone could post those interviews here if they have them?
The guy stated on numerous radio shows for a couple of days that his reputation is all he has and in his 23 years never wrote a story that wasn't backed by sources with legit information. You would think that if he were wrong someone would have called up one of those radio shows to share a story or two he published that wasn't true. I've yet to hear anyone say a bad thing about his reputation. I believe what he reported was 100% fact based on that.
That's why I asked the question earlier about when MNF was over. December 17th is the last game.I listened to four on-air interviews with him yesterday afternoon. I have no doubt that he's telling the truth, and in no way do I think we would be "that" close to landing Gruden to have something screw it up in the end. That's like landing the biggest fish in the lake, getting it in your boat, then letting it fall back in the water trying to get the hook out of it's mouth.
Purely speculation on my part, but like I said yesterday, I think his gig at ESPN has something to do with the timeline. The ups and downs from this forum sway my belief in this happening somewhat, but whenever I take a step back, use my head, look at what is (and more importantly) ISN'T being said from certain people, it just all adds up to still point to Gruden.
I am not saying they have no say, and with what they do for the university they should have some say. I just think this proves they do not have the "final" say in things. There are huge boosters that were not enamored by Gruden as well. Its not like all the boosters were lined up in support of Gruden. There were several big ones that were not. They just weren't as vocal as the few that promised Gruden the world only to have Hart say "That is not possible".
What I am saying here is what I pieced together after the fact. Not trying to convince anyone, just discussing.
Having say and telling Hart he has to hire Gruden no matter how ridiculous his demands are become separate ideas. They can suggest, they can even make a move to replace Hart if they want, but they cannot force him to do anything. Ultimately it is his reputation and career on the line with his first big time football hire.
