Here is my perception on Jimbo Fisher. At first, I wasn't interested, but my feelings have changed and my interest as piqued as him as a potential candidate.

Here is why.

  • by my brief review (forgive any slight errors) of his record and key matrices, he is 29-10 (.743) at FSU with two games left to be played this year.
  • He is 3-5 against ranked teams, including a victory of South Carolina, Notre Dame and Clemson.
  • His recruiting at FSU (per rivals) is 10, 2 and 6.
  • He is 2-1 against Florida.

Personally I think it is a stronger statement of the potential RISE of UT football to pull him away from Florida State that he has made more successful than they have been in almost a decade than it is to pull a twice fired ex-NFL football head coach out of the broadcast booth, who has never coached a down of college football. (I AM a Gruden fan, btw).

My list is Gruden (for the shock and awe but his unproven ability to coach scares me), Fisher and Strong. I think Gruden has a ton of upside, but is a huge unknown (probably nowhere near as valuable as his price tag warrants), Fisher is a home run, and Strong is a good solid hire. I would be comfortable with either. I might actually want Fisher more than Gruden, if there is any validity of the claims about price tag and control issues.

They can have it lol, even though I think they would be closer to OCD than OG. At this point still believing he is coming is just wishful thinking, like thinking that girl that broke up with you is coming back even though she is engaged to a billionaore mogul.

Which comments are you referring to?
I read where Hart says "This will be a collective effort from a lot of people to have us take our rightful place in the Southeastern Conference and beyond."

Just speculating here, I will reiterate that I do not pretend to have any sources. That said, does it seem like Hart is being allowed to do what he's doing because Big Jim is on board with him? It's clear that the boosters set up the whole Gruden thing without Hart, and Hart was probably pi$$ed that he wasn't allowed to do his job.
I think Hart convinced Big Jim, who we all have been led to believe was on board with Gruden but was reticent to pull the trigger over contract issues, that Gruden was not the ONLY answer.
This is not to say we don't end up with Gruden, but it seems to me that Hart convinced Big Jim that a better value could be had with a less emasculating contract framework. Seems to me, Big Jim being a business man and all, that he's giving Hart a chance to at least try and find someone who can restore UT to prominence without exorbitant salary and complete run of football operations.
If Big Jim had been ready to get it done, it seems everyone here is in agreement that it would have been done.
So, while Hart and the $$$$ may be at war, it appears to me that he has Big Jim's blessing to at least carry out a search and see if there's a more acceptable option. If not, I still think we end up with Gru.

Why does everyone keep harping about the control issues that Gruden would of wanted? If I was hart I would be glad to give up some control. If gruden came in and sucked, Hart could say, well I had nothing to do with it. If anything it would be Hart having a get out of jail free card.

He definitely gave impression that nobody would be hired until after the HOF thing.

I asked you earlier and didn't see you respond. Do think there is any truth to the rumors of a big rift between the big boosters and the AD over the earmarked money? TiA

If Hart gets Fisher I will be pissed. Look at all the talent FSU has and had and what's in their back yard. I don't think he has made it to BCS game in weak ACC with that talent.
