I can't argue that and it could mean what I heard isn't true. Maybe he didn't have any control over what his agent said? I don't know...:dunno:
Call me naive, but Would Hart put his job on the line like this? What's it to him who the Boosters want, if they are footing most of the bill? The only scenario that even works for me (IF this is true) would be that there were too many leaks and Hart/agent devised a plan to shut everyone up by saying it is all over, while waiting for the time to announce.
And that doesn't work for me, because I don't know why Gruden would even need to stall?
Just a hypothetical. Let's say a certain hiring manager already had his guy picked out. Long ago. But he knew there was no way his constituency would accept him. So he comes up with a scheme to act with no urgency, go through the motions of flirting with a high-profile candidate with no intention of consummating said deal. Meanwhile he stalls under the guise of just starting the search all the while other managers fill their vacancies. Eventually with the candidate pool dwindling one of the viable options left is the individual he had pegged from the very beginning. Reluctantly, the constituency has no choice but to accept him.
Just a hypothetical, of course.
When strong got there they had a losing record. Look at his record this year.
That info was relayed on Thursday.
Would you be willing to pay 4 or 4.5 for strong?
Here's what I was told.
10mil total offer including assistants when we started at 8.
He kept asking for more stipulations of control. Nothing specific here
A number of times they thought it was finished as in he was going to accept.
After giving he what he wanted a number of times with only more demands they decided he never had any itentions to accept so they had to move on.
They didn't have time to worry about PR( that one pissed me off)
And that strong, gundy, fedora and fisher were the targets going forward. Fedora was least likely because of his one year tenure
My 2¢.
I have always been a Vol and shall always be a Vol. I will always support my University and all of it's coaches whether I think they are the best for the job or not. I'll admit I did get really caught up in Gruden. It got the best of me. Do I think it could still happen? Possibly. If it does, wonderful! If not, I will give my all for Tennessee and its staff. Didn't like Kiffen, but supported him. Never heard of Dooley, supported him. Whomever we hire as our next coach, I will be behind them 100% and support my Vols. Everyone else should as well.
VFL! GO BIG ORANGE!
My gut feeling is that Hart knows something we don't know.
He MUST have a big name hire in place/planned.
If he did lose his big fish and is stuck with the "lower tier", why would he not involve the UT fan base with an update? Communication is key with an unstable mob.
I really hope he knows what he's doing.
