I said so much to employees at work about Gruden to Tennessee..all of em are giving me a hard time now

One of my best friends called today from Va. Beach. He knows I'm all in on Gruden. I answered the phone, mind you, this was around 5 PM, after all the bad news...rather than say hello, I said Gruden, Gruden, Gruden.

He said, "you can't be serious" and started with the littany of reports from ealier in the day.

I told him, at the end of the day, Gruden is the answer, he's the total package and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. I'm willing to wait, whether it's delicate egos, money or timing...it's gonna happen. Gruden fits and no one else is Grudenough. Believe me, don't believe me, it's a coaching search and there are no rules.

The players deserve the best and at the end of the day, those in charge are charged with getting that done. It's undeniable, it's Gruden.

Until Hart walks up there with Fisher, or Strong, I'll just bank on Gruden...because it's right.

I've been sucked in by this whole drama. I'm Longing for the return to the Glory Days. I honestly thought that today was the day, but....

I can't help but think that there is way too much too lose at UT to hire anyone BUT a very big fish, ie Gruden.

Just corroborating that my better judgment and understanding led me to believe that 99% of what I've read on this subject as it pertains to boosters reeked of baloney but I kind of allowed myself to get caught up in it. Still hopeful, but my guard is back up.

I am in the same boat. The sad thing is that I make a living by weighing information. You know, weighing information on its merit. Sadly, my head kept telling me that there is no way any of this is good information (even though I felt like most were relaying it in good faith) by my heart just wanted to believe.

Question what have these so called og's called in past that made everyone take their word as gold and toss the guy like Hubbs and lws aside when they tend to be right 95percent of the time? So far we are 0-2 with Randy Shannon and Jon Gruden. Both time they started this wild rumor that went crazy in Internet and made tn fans look like moron. At this point these guys might as well be James Franklin posing as a tn fan to joke with people and it wouldn't be surprising actually

Not many of them here, but I'll help hold it down for a while. Get some ZZZZZ's and we'll talk to ya later.

Preach it!

Something else to watch closely. Hargis has been on a statewide tour today on the radio shows defending the integrity of his reporting. If there were substantive flaws in his reporting or his sources, someone would have already or will soon step forward to dispel his version of the story and go after him hard about journalistic integrity. That hasn't happened yet and if it doesn't happen in the next day or so, it won't. The absence of any real challenge to his story means Low, Basilio, EA, Haney, Hyams, Hubbs, etc are mere pawns in the game and are clueless to what's really going on. If they had a clue they would be going after Hargis with full fury - he essentially has made all of them look like clueless fools. Their standing back means they either know or are now suspicious that he's right and they've been played the whole time (and still are being played).

I'd like for those that had 100% confidence that it was a done deal from their "sources" to go back and do some digging again with their "sources" to see what they are saying now and report back

I'm having a hard time believing we'll get him now but something keeps telling me there's too many fishy things and reports out there.

That what I said, too! I guessed correctly! What do I win? Nothing! Yay!

But, he has still said NOTHING! Did you read the article from the KNS. That whole article makes no sense.

Why does Hart call someone he has never spoken to to confirm he doesn't want to speak to him? No one else finds that odd.

Yeah he called to "clear the air" yet they didn't talk about anything.....why call at all? just to say..."hey I know this sounds crazy but....." I dunno it may have been "fantasy land" but if so there was enough there for people to really risk it all in media....and TFP editors, and Hargis just don't seem the type.....TFP has always been old school when it comes to reporting...Ochs mantra is ebrazened in the wall, "To give the news impartially, without fear or favor" still carries weight there unless things have degnerated even more then I have thought...

Their not exactly the Guardian, NYT or insert modern sketchy biased news paper here tpe of place....cutting edge and risky news is not something they do...

I really do think the TB thing is in play here more than we think. If that is the case, I can understand wanting to wait that out, just don't apprecaite anyone taking a crap shot at my team like Lamonte did...

Well if it wasn't a total crap shot then how believable would it truly be.......

Even if this is all just completely untrue and nobody even talked to gruden about the job . I can say that just the excitement of thinking he could and listening to the rumors is worth it. This is most excitement I've felt about the vols since before the Florida game.

Just a hypothetical. Let's say a certain hiring manager already had his guy picked out. Long ago. But he knew there was no way his constituency would accept him. So he comes up with a scheme to act with no urgency, go through the motions of flirting with a high-profile candidate with no intention of consummating said deal. Meanwhile he stalls under the guise of just starting the search all the while other managers fill their vacancies. Eventually with the candidate pool dwindling one of the viable options left is the individual he had pegged from the very beginning. Reluctantly, the constituency has no choice but to accept him.

Just a hypothetical, of course.

I tell u something i've not seen in a while, that's some on here with a 100% guarentee like the past day's. I hope it's gruden and this is all cover-up, but i think the espn thing saying he told UT himself he wasn't interested has killed this thread.

I think his point is, no matter what these sources have been telling our OGs, be it from the AD or booster side, it's all been a steaming pile of horsesh*t

That sentence got me. I was reading it, expecting a more serious answer and got to your last word and laughed so hard I almost spit my dip out.

Truer words have never been spoken.
