I'm with you. I was all-in & didn't expect a press conference today but also didn't expect this ****-storm! My son-in-law asked me about 4:00 what I thought, I said it all looked a little murky, I but couldn't tell if people (agent, AD) were just purposely trying to muddy the water or if it was really a cesspool! Told him I wasn't as confident as I was last night, but guessed I was about 85% + Gruden! The things that made me believe the insiders I trust (SBV, Boro, OV & really a couple of new names that sounded plausible without trying too hard), are the things that make me still think it's part of a big plan - I know, sounds crazy & I only say that to my family and anonymously on this board!l :shhh:

I said so much to employees at work about Gruden to Tennessee..all of em are giving me a hard time now

You have hit on something that has bothered me from the beginning. I have voiced this opinion in other Gruden threads but I will say it again.

How do all of these big money people, who got their big money from being good in business dealings, not know when and how to keep their mouth shut? Business dealings don't typically leak like this, and this is a HUGE business dealing. Usually those people who are close to sensitive situations, don't tell someone that they barely know, detailed information. That seems to be how many of our so-called insiders have their information. It just doesn't sit well with me. Couple that with how many times we have heard the same information (Shannon, Lovie Smith, you name it).

Truth be told, I totally bought in against my best judgment. Truth be told, I want so bad to buy in again but my head is telling me there is no way...

Right there with you. Only thing I can add is all sources shut the eff up once the announcements rolled out today. Sounds like either A it was all fake (seems somewhat hard to believe with Hargis and other talk) of big business just got to big business and shut the doors.

Honestly, I'd just be speculating like everyone else. I simply don't know because I haven't heard much since last night, aside from the cryptic references to Hart being hard to deal with.

I'm still taken by both the suddenness and synchronization of the information I heard last night. It was as if someone came out of a meeting or conversation and started *****ing.

The biggest thing to occur was the leak to the paper.

I was under the impression that the real big $ folks who get to listen in on the weekly call with the AD if they wish are asked to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Annnnnnd we'd still go "SMOKESCREEN!! Y'all hear the inflection in his voice when he said East Tennessee? He's comin' y'all! Me plums are tinglin'!"
'
I'm sure some of us would but that isn't the point. He didn't answer the way coaches usually would that love a place. I'm not trying to say this is proof of some smokescreen but just that it was odd. Really odd.

I really do think the TB thing is in play here more than we think. If that is the case, I can understand wanting to wait that out, just don't apprecaite anyone taking a crap shot at my team like Lamonte did...

I don't I think it's ESPN.

On this part I would disagree....loose lips ALWAYS exist, keeping anything a secret is damn hard, more so when it's something considered non serious like sports.... The only way to really keep a secret at UT, is to keep it between you and one other person, and wack him in the back of head as soon as opportunity presents...

Hell you can't even get Navy Seals today to keep their mouth shut today.....few people know how to stay on the square...

Also several boosters in question tend to be braggerts..... I just want to know a little more on what we do know and who can be verified of saying something and when....

Why do I do this to myself, I could of avoided lots of stress and emotional turmoil if I would of just stayed out of this thread after my last post. I still have 0 idea of what to expect but I will chip in my ante and lets see the flop.

I agree with you, I was just having fun with it.

It still bothers me that Jon Gruden who has said he loves UT would answer the question on Mike and Mike so tersely. Today no statement from him either and his agent downright insulted us. Gruden isn't a stupid man. Would he really burn this many bridges in East Tennessee? Wouldn't he more likely come out and say something like "I am very flattered that the place that gave me my start would want me to be their next head coach. This is a huge honor to me and my family. I love East Tennessee and the University of Tennessee however I do not feel this job is right for me at this time. Thank you."

I started to post this about 5 times today. Totally agree. If he were truly out, for sure, it's inconceivable to me he wouldn't have said something like this.

After UF game the big boosters had a secret meeting with Gruden. Asked him what he needed money wise and admin wise. Fast forward some and after many more talks a deal is agreed upon and an MOU is signed agreeing upon the terms needed for Gruden to coach at UT. These meetings were between Gruden and the boosters and no one else. The boosters take this to Hart and tell him who they want and what is needed.

That is the gist of it. Believe it or not but jay and OV can back me up on that. This all happened and is 100% fact.

And Hart came in like a bull in a china shop, huffing and puffing and snorting and peed on LaMonte's leg and shot his mouth off or something to that affect. LaMonte then said to Hart, Gruden is staying at ESPN you little prick!

Join the mother effin club!

That would be an interesting point.

Explain to me how you think that applies here? No sarcasm intended, I just don't follow what you mean ultimately.

Could be my friend. So many little details we may never truly know. Many things don't add up the way you would think. Deep down something tells me we still get together in the end.

That may explain the voice I heard on the Mike and Mike show when he was asked....and said "I am just a man trying to keep my job" ...hmmmmm

This may be coming together for me if 1.2 is at stake..

Also why Lamonte has to publicly and harshly deny any talks with Tennessee at all

Thanks. Heck, even schools that coaches don't care about would answer in some politically correct way. If Gruden just likes the attention why didn't he show it?

I have a feeling we give his "need for attention" to much attention. For when he speaks of UT he always speaks with passion and reverence. Why not now, when we need it most?? OBTW don't forget Bigfoot takes pictures of him so he gets all the attention he needs:rock:

I think his point is, no matter what these sources have been telling our OGs, be it from the AD or booster side, it's all been a steaming pile of horsesh*t

And he couldn't say it without laughing.
