I think boosters are just as emotional as us, but they have lots of cash. Sometimes they can't see what's best because of the said emotions. Maybe he did want the job. I never understood why and I LOVE UT.
Gruden is a NFL coach. But that is jmo.

Again, if we want to be well run, we hire the best AD. I think we did well. You let him run it and make the tough decisions. I think he is. We will get a coach that will get it done. The coaches we are looking at right now are at FSU, UL, UNC, OKY ST, & the U. Much better than last time.

I don't doubt LWS, Hubbs and skeeter. Those guys are solid and have very good info. Their info comes from the AD. I also believe there's another side to it all. Boosters. They have a say in things and are real. Just because they don't have a radio show, a website with paying members or a tv show doesn't mean they're not real. It's not always black and white. This idea that if skeeter misses on a recruit or OG's miss on Gruden that they are automatically lying/trolling/making up bs is ignorant.

So do you not see us getting rid of the Cheek and Martin problem? I feel these two are the heart of all the problems with UT athletics right now. I don't know if you can even answer that question. But are the boosters just clueless to the issue or is it just completely out of their hands? I don't really know how this stuff works. I am just so beyond frustrated with everything right now. We should not be in this big of a hole with money compared to the rest of the SEC teams.

Sadly, I'm starting to agree with you. I wanted Gruden but after today is was completely obvious he isn't coming and it's time to move on.

And isn't his father a major booster at UT? I believe he's one of the main 5 pushing for Gruden. Hart's playing with fire if he doesn't do what Haslem wants, wouldn't you think (if of course, you believe that the boosters are indeed pushing for Gruden in a major way)?

Grudenville also had sources from former players, radio hosts, their "insiders," and boosters like John Daly. Its sadly the exact same thing. Jeff Long is considered one of the best A.D's in the country yet some of their fanbase hates him because of the stupid Gruden talk. The same thing is happening with Hart.

Boosters do have input, no doubt. luckily for us UT fans the boosters are starting to see the light on the real problems with UT athletics and trying to apply pressure to those areas(cheek and Martin to name a couple). Hart is the main reason the boosters are putting the pressure on cheek. Hamilton was a wuss and let cheek and everyone else run him over. Hart is fighting for what he thinks is right and what he thinks is best for Tennessee football.
Hey i was hoping Gruden was the man like everyone was saying, was hoping the ad was left in the dark or being smokescreened or whatever. Boosters can go speak with whom ever they choose, but they cannot construct a contract for employment for the university of Tennessee. So i guess they could promise someone the moon if they so choosed.

Seriously Hart will have a presser introducing Strong or someone else and some of these "OG's" will still say the Gruden deal is in the works and has been since October Lol.

Assuming it is Strong, which I really hope is the case, I'm going to be angry if fans start complaining. At least give the new coach, whoever it may be, a chance.

I don't know if you realize this, but everything you point to is that Gruden didn't want the job. Haslam, boosters, fans all want Gruden, and we agree its not money. Governor could fire Cheek but it is power that Gruden wants. Everyone that couldn't care less says Gruden wants to be in the NFL.

We are pissing in the wind. I don't think the OG's were lying. I am not drudging up your old posts. I have a great deal of respect for you, but Gruden didn't want to be here. If he did, he would.

I am fine with that if that is indeed the case. I wanted to see him come to UT but I will be just as happy with UT hiring a proven winner of an HC. Who ever it is will be 100x better than the previous HC we just got rid of.

Do you have proof a deal isn't in the works? Newsflash, if a coach isn't hired he was never interested and/or interviewed. That's how it works in the media. No coach/agent/university wants it to look like they were told no. If you asked Hamilton I bet he would tell you Dooley was the first coach he offered.

He said WE expect that stadium to be full, 55,000 people. haha Thats cute. I go to 2 or 3 games a year at papa johns and i've never seen it sold out. They have a party deck at the stadium where all the bandwagon fans go to socialize during the game.. Theres no TVs and they dont hardly pay attention to the game at all on the party deck. Its lame IMO. The tailgating is decent and even Strong had to get on the fans up here to get to the game instead of sitting in the parking lot bc Louisville is a BBALL school, thats all there is to it. They dont have the passion for football as they do basketball.

Well, in defense of our fan base, Hart has no track record with UT. So i don't think its totally fair to compare us. This will be Harts first big hire with us, so people are on the edge. I am in the wait and see line. IIt does not have to be Gruden for me, but it needs to impress me.

I think after Gruden looked into what college football coaching is all about, he decided it wasnt for him. I think the reason he gave it a look was for his wife and because of his friendship with Peyton. Not sure he would want to be out on the road recruiting hs kids and their families, dealing with the ncaa, 20 hour rules and everything else that comes along with it. I dont know that for sure, just hearing bits here and there and trying to put them together. I do not believe Gruden ever had a contract in front of him from Tennessee, im sure boosters talked money with him though.
