Wish we could somehow get Marion Hobby on the next staff also. Would love to see Hobby, Tee, & Graham on the recruiting trail for Tennessee.

That would be awesome! I feel like if it is Strong it is critical we get an OC that can develop an offensive philosophy to go along with our defensive scheme. There was obviously no cohesion among the two units this year

Let me put it this way, if I had to pick between Hinshaw and Louisville's WR coach... Hinshaw all day and twice on Sunday. That's one of the benefits if UT gets Fedora. He will bring Gunter Brewer. Great coach and solid recruiter.

SN: I think Tee will give interest into the position at UT now.
I don't know who Louisville's WR coach is, so I can't comment on that. I just think we can upgrade that spot. Hinshaw is a good recruiter and we could do a lot worse than keeping him. I'd just prefer someone else coaching WRs next year.

First of all, since when is UT a well run athletic department. And calling Haslem, Ergen, Thornton and PM "inmates" is absurd. No, trusting a guy who's been on the job just over a year to make arguable the biggest hire in UT's history isn't what elite FB programs do. IMO

I mentioned this earlier, but wouldn't Haslam, Ergen, Thornton, Manning, and company be the ones who kind of "ok'd" Dave Hart's hiring to start with? If they thought he was an idiot who couldn't run this search or AD then wouldn't they have pitched a fit earlier or just NOT given the money they have?

Apparently, Hurtt was involved in the recruiting scandal at Miami. Not sure how I'd feel about him on our staff, although if Strong comes Hurtt will probably be right behind him.

Ok, first of all, since hiring Hart we are trying to be a well run AD. Inmates was an expression, but if you think Mal Moore isn't running things his way you're nuts. If you don't trust Hart to do the hire, even though Skeeter has said it is all Hart's power, then you don't hire the man.

From what I hear mal was forced by ala boosters to make the saban hire tifwiw same with TN my friend

How about this:

Head Coach: Charlie Strong

OC/TE's: Brian White
QB: Tee Martin
RB: Jay Graham
WR: Darin Hinshaw (or plug in Tee & add a different QB coach)
OL: Sam Pittman

DC/DB: Vance Bedford
DL: Clint Hurtt
LB: ?

ST: ?

If the boosters had as much say as some believe, Cheek and Martins bags would already be packed and they would be out the door. Then we could get about whoever we wanted.

So you don't believe that a small group of boosters, PM included, put together a pile of cash to hire Gruden?

28 coaches have won a Super Bowl. 28.

Look we aren't ever going to agree on him everybody has their opinion on who they want and don't want. Your in love with him I'm not. So I will move on and stop the back and forth. I enjoy Ron's post. He post great good stuff and I enjoy read them. This is just one of those we are going to disagree on.

Exactly. OC hire would be huge.

I really hope we can get a good special teams coach. From his experience at Florida, Strong should know how critical good special teams plays can be.

I think Grudens scheme is too complex for college. I know it wouldn't be the same scheme but unless Andrew Luck is under center we'd be screwed. A 19 or 20 year old and Jon gruden don't mix. Sure you see his qb camp and all that but that isn't coach gruden. I've seen the video of him and Chris simms in practice and him belittling simms. We're better off and I'm someone that wanted gruden based on name alone. Now I've had time to be rational. Strong, Gundy, Fedora .....one of those I hope.

I wouldn't mind Steele at LB. Guy was a beast on the trail.

What if its not about money? What if it is control? And we'll agree to disagree, but I believe the NFL reporters that say he really wants to be in the NFL.

I'd be okay with White as OC. Hurtt can recruit, but the last thing we need is more trouble with the NCAA. I'm not as sold on Tee and Hinshaw and some others are. JMO.

I like Chaney but like many have said he needs a HC who can keep him in check on his play calling at times (don't abandon the run). Is Strong the type of HC that could do that? Being that he's a defensive minded coach.

It doesnt matter. Everyone knows Gruden wants Saban type control over football operations. that WILL NOT HAPPEN HERE with Cheek and Martin hanging around. Its out of Harts hands. Like i said, if the boosters had as much control as people think, those two would be gone.

This was one of my biggest concerns with Gruden.

I don't believe it's about $ at all, that doesn't add up. They've been working this deal with Gruden for awhile now, those specifics would have been worked out by now. I'm not sure what fell through, the OG's haven't been specific on that yet. But it does seem like Hart has been a problem in the deal.

And according to Hubbs, C. Low, Hyams and many others Gruden isn't who Hart wants. I think the boosters and the majority of fans want Gruden and Gruden wants the job but Hart wants to hire someone else. OR this is all a smokescreen to buy more time and Gruden will still be announced. Just my opinions. It's fine if we disagree :hi:

I swear this website is just like Grudenville. Insiders saying its a done deal with Gruden, keeps delaying the announcement, then finally its confirmed he isn't interested and Jeff Long screwed the whole deal up just like Hart did. It is seriously the exact same script.

People trying to fire Dave hart because somebody they don't know on a message board claims hart botched deal because they are to chicken to admit they were lying and trolling. It's pretty obvious they would use hart as scapegoat for lie. Just like with randy Shannon garbage. Dave hart is the same guy you were all praising for the moves he is making to right our athletic program. That is real. The bull**** og crap is fake. Unreal how stupid people are these days. You all doubt skeeter, lws, Hubbs and Rucker but they end up right an telling you all facts you don't want to hear but you ignore them to blame someone else. What if someone asked you to give up all control and be a puppet? You sure as heck would not agree to that unless you were a sissy.

Hinshaw at QB or WR. Tee is a completely unproven coach. I don't want him just because he won us a NC. I'd love to see a $1M hire at OC if Strong is the man, and one who insists on excellence like Graham. Hinshaw is too soft he needs an OC who demands excellence, but I still think he's better at recruiting and coaching than Tee.
