Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

I believe the reports from today, including Lamontes piece. It lines up with what AD sources have said all along. Thats why I am leaving predictions up to Skeeter and LWS that obviously know far more than me or about anyone else in this thread when it comes to the AD. Boosters are full of ****.

Don't to be too quick there Bcarter. Not to play juggling sources, but the primary places I was receiving information is/are/were uniquely positioned to have to first hand knowledge of what was going on. I still think they believed there was an agreement. They are the ones that relayed to me last night things went off the rails. Until then, as recently as 5 days ago, we were good. And if they thought they "had a deal" it wasn't conjecture but bc Gruden said he was coming. That i have no question about. He Was getting his staff ready. you dont do all of that if you're Listening and smiling. That's all I'll say about it.

Now today I was told directly that Hart WAS/IS part of the problem. Don't know details but there is an issue there. TIFWIW

Good job on your reporting. Glad you were here to help.

Made some good friends here man, thats it. Not posting about Gruden anymore, at least in regards to him coming. That proverbial ship has sailed. Having a hard time not calling out a couple people but can bite my lip. There is a troll here right now keeping peoples hopes up with garbage, but then again many of you think I did the same thing even though I never shared anything I heard that I did not 100% believe. I wish I could name names lol.

Who is the troll?

Just guessing, but I do not think he had a pulse of how big it got, and got there very quickly. I think the info he released today was a direct result of this thread and the Chattanooga article that may have not been written without this thread. I think he said something as soon as he thought he had to, and did it through Hubbs and VQ.

I DO NOT blame Hart for this. I put the blame on Gruden for sitting back and enjoying the attention knowing he wasn't coming here. I no longer believe he contacted UT, and also no longer believe he ever had a contract or MOU in hand. JMO but its what I choose to believe looking at all the information. Take it or leave it. A little bitter I got burned, but cannot tell those people that burned me "Hey I posted that **** you told me online and now look ridiculous" lol.

Hart will get scapegoated but I bet when its all said and done and everything comes out it will prove that UT has infinitely more interest in hiring Gruden than Gruden ever had toward UT.

Bcarter...I somehow missed this post.... This actually makes sense.... I'm a little slow.....LOL

That would be interesting. Was Bama wanting Saban like we wanted Gruden, or someone else? And Ohio State?

I think what makes Gruden so appealing (besides the recruits and winning) is that he's such a rock star, every team needing a coach wants him and he has ties to the university. It makes up for the way Kiffin left us for USC, like our school meant nothing.

My friend here who's all Bama has been very informative to me about that whole ordeal. And ill say it again: He explained to me that Mal Moore actually hired Rich Rod. The fan base and boosters went nuts because they wanted Saban. It became a power struggle, the boosters twisted Moores arm until he backed out on Rich Rod. Remember that? Then Saban continued to deny any involvement with Bama. My friend went on to say that the whole Saban concept went dead. Moore NEVER addressed the fans or tried to control the rumors. Nothing. So the idea was dead...and then within days of Sabans last day it quickly arose and the deal was done...

Remember guys we can still get a "solid" coach as talk radio like to say. What is a solid coach? Old people want their bowel movements solid. I want a kick ass, take no prisoners coach.

This makes me feel even better if true. Again, Hart will step in line when big money says to. That is how major college athletics works.

My only question to that is how the hell does one guy guy stop a deal that big. Serious. I don't mean mentally how does he I mean mechanically how does one guy completely derail this? He wants illusion of control?

The solution is to eliminate the problem that is standing in the way and apparently it's Hart..Do what is necessary to finish the damn deal.

I don't think this thing is over. Some things just don't add up. There has been entirely too much smoke linking JG to having legit interest in UT. It's possible that the deal could be as far along as some have said without JG having serious conversations with anyone in the utad. If things are close behind the scenes & he can't accept right now for whatever reasons it makes total sense for UT & even his agent to deny reports that were leaking. UT could deny it all & continue interviewing others to throw the fanbase off until the right time. Everybody reporting JG said no & it's over is getting their info from sources in the utad. It doesn't make sense for the majority of the fans, boosters, & even former coaches/players to be wanting JG & Hart doesn't even seem to be all that interested. Just doesn't add up. Jmo

Didn't say Hart "stopped" the deal. Was only told he...well, apparently he wasn't helpful. And seems he is sort of a stubborn cuss. I have yet to get an explanation as to why things fell apart or Hart did or did not do.
