Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

Last time I am addressing HopVol but I guess he would have liked it better if I ignored information that DOES NOT support my cause and only post what does like many many others here.

Ok Hoppy, have a nice life. Im done with you, and you can take that one to the bank.

:hi:

I have always been on bcarters side and still hanging around there. But I have always sided with the $$$$ on this and have made that clear all along.

This new side of Bcarter that says Hart is the good guy and the $$$$ is FOS just doesn't sit well with me.

Not a shot a Bcarter at all... but that is difficult for me just my take

Difficult for me too but I believe it.

LOL, I know this has probably already been posted but if this entire deal has been brokered, negotiated, and delivered by the "donors" and Gruden turned it down, HOW THE F IS THAT HARTS FAULT?? One might say that Haslam should be fired and Hart may have to save the deal.

i'm curious as to what Alabama and Ohio State's football forums were saying during these times. I wonder if Alabama had an official saban thread XIV or OSU meyer thread XIII?

I tried to find one today from Saban and Alabama. Only thing I found was an article in mid-December from Neal McReady telling Alabama fans to give up on Saban. He wasn't coming

One of my good buddies is a big Bama fan, and he always complains that they don't have a forum anywhere near as awesome as Vol Nation. I'm glad he has something to be jealous about. :/

The line I have focused on from today's article is Lemonte copying the ESPN statement jargon. "committed to ESPN". If so, did Woodbury follow up with the obvious question regarding his assembling a staff. Is that not also true? Did he ask if that meant Gruden was not going to coach in the NFL. I feel like Hargis is right

That would be interesting. Was Bama wanting Saban like we wanted Gruden, or someone else? And Ohio State?

I think what makes Gruden so appealing (besides the recruits and winning) is that he's such a rock star, every team needing a coach wants him and he has ties to the university. It makes up for the way Kiffin left us for USC, like our school meant nothing.

Just guessing, but I do not think he had a pulse of how big it got, and got there very quickly. I think the info he released today was a direct result of this thread and the Chattanooga article that may have not been written without this thread. I think he said something as soon as he thought he had to, and did it through Hubbs and VQ.

I DO NOT blame Hart for this. I put the blame on Gruden for sitting back and enjoying the attention knowing he wasn't coming here. I no longer believe he contacted UT, and also no longer believe he ever had a contract or MOU in hand. JMO but its what I choose to believe looking at all the information. Take it or leave it. A little bitter I got burned, but cannot tell those people that burned me "Hey I posted that **** you told me online and now look ridiculous" lol.

Hart will get scapegoated but I bet when its all said and done and everything comes out it will prove that UT has infinitely more interest in hiring Gruden than Gruden ever had toward UT.

nice post

Amen brother. Watch Hart's house of cards start to fall.

That would actually be good news, if it was Hart's issue. If Gruden wants to come here -- which I believe -- I have the utmost confidence the power brokers will have him here.

The bigger problem would be if Gruden truly did not want to be here. And if that was the case why would he have a meeting scheduled/canceled, and not release a very nice, public statement saying he loves UT but is going to stay where he is at.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Hart wanted Sal and paid big money to get him here. Look how well that turned out. Hart can GTFO!

After this debacle, what are the big $$$ guys doing about Hart and his one man coaching counsel.

Does anybody for the sake of TN know what boosters think of today's activities.

It would be Hart's fault if Gruden was going to accept deal but Hart was an ass and pissed Gruden or LaMonte off with some bs.

The money has been at this for a lot longer than a few weeks, the money is who runs the show, if Gruden wasn't interested back then, then this whole "story" would not be unfolding. If ANYONE has effed up this deal it is Hart. I can't believe he would even be allowed to do that, thus I'm sticking with the Gru until UT announces a new HC.

I have a source (Jasper Daniel) who told me that if we win the basketball game we will get Gruden.

Not a troll. Just sayin

I have a feeling that "boosters" are people who donate, let's say $5,000 to the university and feel they should have a say in head coaching decisions. Granted, UT does have some very notable Big Boosters but i'm more or less thinking out loud to gather people's thoughts to give me more insight.
