People said that only Gruden would unite the fanbase, but I have yet to see someone totally against bringing in Strong. He would be fantastic for the university.

Look can I just be real honest here with my fellow fans?

There really is no sense in being mad at Hart and here is why:

1. We really dont know the details. Hard to be mad at someone when you do not know the details. WE can assume a lot but at best it is just assumption so we need to be fair in our perspective.

2. For those who cant settle on #1, then look at it this way - all issues like money, staff, and power tossed aside...Gruden comes to TN as HC. 1 or even 2 years later an NFL job becomes available and Gruden goes NFL, which is where it appears his heart is focused...

Do you now have hard feelings at Gruden (like Kiffin) for leaving? Or do you trust Hart to get the right coach from day 1? Hart didnt hire Dooley but I am sure we would like to have that decision as a redo.

I'm not mad at Hart, we will never know the details of the coaching search. When coach X is hired all we will hear is, "he was our guy from the jump".

I"m just mad!! Mad that our program is where it is, Mad we are doing this again. Mad that those SOB's at Bama can pull a Saban out of the NFL, Arky can pull a Petrino out of the NFL and we are looking to poach Louisville.

I know of a few that aren't fans. Personally, I would love the hire and he was my number one until Gruden came up in September.

Strong would be Franklins worse nightmare when it comes to recruiting Tennessee.

The trinity boys would be UT bound IMO. I dont think him leaving UofL would hurt UT recruiting at trinity. He would deff be dynamite in the south, especially FL. If no Gruden or Davis I deff want Strong. Its gonna be hard to get him out of UofL though.

Now that I'm firmly off the Gruden train and thinking clearly, I completely agree with this.

I've been all in for Strong for the last month or so, since Hubbs broke the news after the Missouri game that Dooley was basically done.

Some people need to grow up and stop acting like 13 year old girls.

Franklin has more upside than any coach on our radar and is more ready than Strong for sure.

Who cares if he has workd at Vanderbilt? Fulmer and Doug Mattheews did. Would you turn down Saban because he works at Alabama?

I think Franklin can coach and all but how's his upside greater Strong again?

Franklin has won at Vandy, hats off to him. What else has he proven? Strong has been a key to two National Championships as a DC. And now he has his young team going to a BCS bowl game. I don't care about what conference their in either. Remember when West Virginia was supposed to be a nothing squad and they gutted UGA in a BCS game? Or how Utah punished the mighty Saban in a BCS bowl? Strong is much more respected and more accomplished than Franklin. And no I'm not a Franklin hater. I think he's at Vandy at the right time. If UT had a decent coach we would've wrecked Vandy this year.

Glad to hear you are off.

I was an interested spectator, but I just couldn't believe it. All the positives came from anonymous posters, all the negatives came from major media outlets. It just never sounded convincing to me.

Don't get me wrong, I would have totally loved it. But it just sounded silly to think a two-time super bowl coach who hadn't coached college in 25+ years would suddenly come here, with so many NFL openings expected this offseason...

Concur with all of this. And especially what I highlighted. This year was so sad on so many levels. We had the talent easily for an 8 win season (at least). We should never have lost to Vandy, Missouri or MSU. And with a good coach, we could have upset USC or Georgia. I have no doubts.

Ut should have won the east. Petrino would have wrecked havoc with our offense

Those are really the only two points that need to be made for bringing him in as the new HC. His recruiting prowess is just a huge bonus.

It can all be summed by abundant talent.

I love Strong. Get Ellis Johnson to come along as his DC and ill be doing a happy dance.

But , after getting my hopes up for Gruden, I refuse to get caught up on a coach again.

All-time, all-purpose yard school record holder CP???...

Seems legit.

Lol yeah.... this guy has a personal hatred with CP for some reason. CP may have pulled a Bray and banged his girl, Idk. I remember him saying that CP had a mediocre performance against N.C St.

I think he was under utilized this year in our offense. Would've loved to see CP used in the Oregon attack. Can you say Heisman?????

Yeah, I'll agree with that. I complained early on about him not getting at least 12 touches a game. The key to that quote for me was, "under produced", which implies it falls on CP, IMO. "Under utilized" is a whole other thing.
