I don't want Golden and will be extremely disappointed if he is hired.

First off, I'm with you I don't want him and if Golden meets with us it's only to drive up his salary IMO. He keeps pushing the agenda that he wants to see Miami through to the finish of the sanctions and turn the program back around. I think he's a man of integrity and keeps his word. JMO.

I wish hart would at least give a call to Shaw. Probably a long shot. But still.

Strong is officially done with the regular season. Call him. Now.

I don't think any of those guys are a possibility, personally.

Larry said that Hart has met with Gundy. Hubbs said that he (or his agent) contacted UT to let them know he was interested. So I guess he's a possibility. I think we can get Strong but we'll have to pay for him. Fisher and Stoops aren't coming IMO. Patterson would more than likely wait for Texas to fire Brown.

I think Strong's the only guy that could save this recruiting class, so I hope it's him.

Gruden is 87-82 in seasons other the one where he won the Super Bowl with Dungy's players...

I'm not saying he's not a good coach...I'm saying you don't spend more money on him than Saban or Meyer...they've proven themselves over and over at the highest levels of college football and Gruden has not...

6 million on Gruden is like going all in with 3 of a kind

the raiders were 4-12 when he took over - he took them to 8-8, 8-8, then 2 divisional titles and an AFC title game

he then won a superbowl with "Dungy's players" that had been a wild card team and 1 and done in the playoffs the 2 years prior

he won with the likes of rich gannon and brad johnson - the only NFL coach i can think to win that much with so little talent at QB is bill parcells

87-82 is very deceiving - especially when the 2 first and 2 2nds tampa gave up to get him are a big reason for the talent dropoff several years after he arrived

I really don't think they'll hand the keys to Smart. He's a risk on two fronts. One he's unproven away from Saban, and two he's likely to jump ship when Richt retires. JMO.

My point is that UT has to pay a premium to get a coach the same caliber as Saban and Meyer. We cannot pay market value. Supply/demand principles are in play.

I understand your point now...where we disagree is that you believe Gruden is equivalent to those coaches and I don't think he is

People like to dog on anyone that says Gruden is not coming. The funny thing is most of those guys would believe he was still coming after another coach had been announced. "He's just a one year place holder".

I am not sure I am all in on any of the names out there. Fedora and Strong may be the two best recruiters with Strong getting the edge here.

I could get behind either if UT is willing to give him the resources they would someone like Gruden etc for a staff. I want to see a top level support staff just as much if not more than a top head coach.

I think Strong is ok but he needs better folks around him and not what he has at Louisville. Same for Fedora.

I am with you here. I can support either if they break the bank and get some lights out recruiters to back either coach.

I agree with bot of you. Why have a good HC if he doesn't have a better staff. Cause you are going to need a strong D to win in the SEC. And oh a consistent Kicker.

Somewhat strangely the thought of missing on Gruden and ending up with Strong is not crushing me at all. Feeling pretty good about it actually.

Need to lock it up though. And the sooner the better.

Does anyone know the compensation that Strong/Fedora and their staffs are making?

Nothing has changed for me.

For discussion purposes only, Strong is the only other name being thrown around I would be happy with.
