Do you not think that if Jon Gruden has truly turned down the job offer, perhaps ESPN would be able to report that first??? That would be the easiest route. "Hey Jon. Would you mind putting this UT stuff to rest?" ESPN will do their best to be first to report anything official. They may get scooped, but they aren't going to get scooped with information they can't validate, thus nothing from them. Especially when it involves a ESPN employee, they won't run a unsubstantiated rumor. For now, this is a NON-STORY!!!

All Hyams needs for Christmas is a bright orange clown suit.

I have a hard time believing he would toy with his wife's alma mater. If it doesn't get done I think it never really got off the ground.

The guy would have commanded $5,000,000 and would have bolted to the first good NFL job. And I don't think he would have been very successful at the college game. And given the state of UT's athletic finances, you couldn't afford to fire him. There are better choices out there, IMHO. :hi:

As a guy that was formerly in the TV news market, we are educated on how to deal with stories. And the first thing they teach us is that it is always easier to backtrack from saying no than by saying yes. Meaning the guys saying no, have a lot less to lose than those saying yes. The guys saying yes are putting themselves out there more. Are they right we will see, but I was taught through experience education that you listen to the yeses and are skeptical of the no's, because there is always more story to be found....Just my .02

The Volquest thing takes me down to 80% waiting for confirmation from AD but that seems a likely statement especially after Jon saying on mike and Mike maybe he should talk to his wife and family about it sense they are envolved....hmmmmm :ermm:

Things did not seem to work out and its on Gruden's end. Again I have had such faith that I can't completely let go and I am going to stick around and hope that his call is wrong or a smoke screen. But I doubt it.

Has anyone like the above poster ever stopped to think that maybe their "source" could be influenced by say a statement by Hyams or a text from GVX? After receiving this information, they decide to call you?

The lesson learned out of all this is until UTAD speaks it's just BS. Dang fun entertainment for the last few weeks though

This whole search process would have moved on a quicker timetable if the Knoxville media hadn't been so completely worthless.

The stories about Dooleys incompetence were obvious to anybody if you did a little digging (see article out of chatt on terrible recruiting relationships).

Instead they just blew smoke up our a**es: hahaha lets joke about Tyler bray throwing beer bottles. Wow look Dooley took them to camp! 7 assistants leave? Nothing to see here!

I am not going to believe anything until Hart trots out someone else. Simple as that. I refuse to believe the OGs have been given bad info. The only conclusion I can come to is that Gruden has been playing the people that have been negotiating with him. I find this hard to belive too. I can't imagine him jerking around the Haslems and Peyton.
