Local media saying "it's over" Local media saying "Gruden declined Tennessee offer" Chattanooga Media saying "Gruden mulling offer"

ESPN.com saying...nothing

Help me understand your timeline and 3 weeks
Really this is not a slam but a clarification...no school (yes the NFL)that I remember Announces a new coach anytime close to firing the last one
The SEC still believe it or not has manners

About 3 weeks ago, the Knoxville media got completely off of Gruden saying that he wasn't a viable option. At that point the AD had strategically leaked a list of ridiculous names of potential candidates that began to appear in emails.

Now here we are and the same media is saying that Gruden isn't a real possibility (and we really mean it this time).

Meanwhile the TSR and other outlets have been doing there level best to bring the conversation away from Gruden.

Simply put, this is the strangest thing I've seen in a while.

Yep Sums it up....Hart never did approch Gruden. Peyton and the boosters wrote there own contract but it had no meaning as they cant legally hire. The problem was some folks here were privey to what Peyton and the boosters were doing and assumed they were speaking for the University. Thus these threads proclaiming 100 percent done. Now here we are. Pick one of Hart's candidates and lobby for him.

f*** Hart and the Crimson pony he rode in on.

I am not stating anything other than my opinion, but the two are in no way mutually exclusive. I can interview for a job and agree on salary then other things repel me, other opportunities come up. I do not know. I do nto know if its over, on or what. I am only saying UT football will survive.

This thread is degrading into something that I do not like. Its like people are hanging on every word, surmising what they want from it, and being ridiculous.

I wasn't trying to call you out. Just saying keep the faith. Is it possible Gruden gets cold feet at the last second? Sure. I would say it is highly unlikely though and more likely that all this is just fluff.

Exactly. The only real wild card is the Billy Donavan factor. Heck...he coached in Orlando for 2 days, and then went back to Florida.

All that to say...either it is signed and we are being played (which is my stance) or Gruden has pulled the plug.

I think the AD has led a misinformation campaign for at least the last 3 weeks. I don't know why they would stop until the new coach is announced.

I agree with you on this lex...but what could be the reason for this misdirection? I do not understand unless the deal is not done or it is the only way they can get other coaches to interview??? just asking your thoughts

Highly suspicious.

Unlucky number 13. Looks my luck continues as well. Start tearing down Neyland, the end is near. When they march Kirby Smart on stage, make sure to take a picture of the death of an empire. GAME OVER MAN!

It is a shell game and it has been well played by both sides. 99% of the fan base is so confused and fed up they don't know which end is up.

Everyone is being played. Exactly how it has been scripted for some time. Just relax and it will all work out!!

I just got the worst call ever. Hope its wrong but the guy has always been an excellent source with a healthy number of sources placed all over in rather unique places (which I still can't reveal so tar and feather me if you wish, lord knows I have done it to guys who start to fall off the wagon). You can look at my posts and know I have been all in since I came in. Thinking about going home sick from work and just lay in bed.

Things did not seem to work out and its on Gruden's end. Again I have had such faith that I can't completely let go and I am going to stick around and hope that his call is wrong or a smoke screen. But I doubt it.

Go Vols

We asked him to the prom, he wanted us to give him $100 million to go the prom, so we moved on to plan B.

At least we tried. Move along. The good lord works in mysterious ways. May be the greatest thing that ever happens to us.

Based on his body of work, if Jon thinks he should be paid more than Nick Saban, then we need to find a different guy. Because, he is a fricking nut!

I've been here from the get go, mostly reading, and I'm not buying into any of this by the news outlet. I believe we're just going to have to wait and see. No worries.
