Official Jon Gruden Thread XII

I have been around since Gruden II and this is the shakiest I have seen the thread. I still believe it will happen simply because of Hart's inaction. During his presser when Dooley was fired, the guy was way too confident and already seemed to have his guy. Until today, there has been nothing that would lead anyone to think differently.

It's very suspicious that we haven't seen any action, despite there being 4 SEC teams that will be looking for a new coach. KY has already found one, and we don't have a single confirmation of a hunt?

From my sources, all is well, and this is all smoke and mirrors. I really hope they are right.

You know as well as I do, that Miami has never had an issue recruiting, even with NCAA problems. So, if Golden is that good of a coach, why can't he do better?? He's in one of the most talent laden areas in America.

How many years they been away from the old orange bowl?

So has this thread officially died to the Gruden dream??

I don't think it has died just a lot of info coming out and some of the folks on here have been locked in on this so long they don't know what to believe anymore. To much smoke around this issue and like everyone says where there is smoke there is Fire. Still 100% GRUDEN get it done.

Golden what is the attraction to this guy??? I don't see he had what a good year or two at Temple ok , He goes to Miami and has an ok year. He should the next UT coach what are these people smoking??? Now, Strong would be better actually much better.

Hart has not painted himself in a corner....explain how he did

While trying to explain my comments didn't make sense. I was going to say he allowed this speculation to grow out of control, but if negotiations are going on what is suppose to do. I changed my mind by reading how ridiculous that sounded before hitting send. You're right. I should have thought it through before posting that comment.

Miami was a good job in the late 80's and early 00's when people were cheating like crazy. The fan support, athletic support, pretty much everything is terrible.

Recruiting isn't easy at all there because FSU and Florida are dominant. Not Golden's fault he got put in a bad position.

My hopes just went out the window. I hope it happens but I think I'm shutting down the old browser for a while.

Anyway, give me Charlie Strong, Golden, or Jim Mora Jr. and we're kicking ass in two years. This job is fantastic.

That's the kind of attitude we need. If gruden is out hart has to leak it in a 100per kind of way so our fanbase can head in this direction!

He would have to not only salvage this years class, but seriously improve it, or he would have a massive hole in an already thin lineup. I don't think he would excite ANY recruits into switching this year, so I think he would have the same problems as Dooley inherited. I do not under any circumstance see him winning many more games aside from divine intervention.

Never seen you this down on Golden. Glad you see the light now.

Golden, like any coach, could turn out to be great (if hired, and I don't believe he will be). But take a look at the guy.. the ACC is WEAK. FSU and Clemson are the only nationally competitive teams, and Miami is a sludge muffin.

Golden just reeks of Dooley. He would be a 5 year project to be competing for SECCG's again.. and if it takes that long, the economic losses to UT could really be damaging. There's so many more negatives to Golden, other than "He A'int Gruden!!" He's not a practical choice.

I still believe, STILL the AD has not put the Gruden talk down, Gruden didn't put the Tennessee talk to rest he just basically sidestepped and wanted to move on. And the fact it has been so so quiet in the AD makes me believe we are in pursuit of GRUDEN!!

I don't think Hart was even expecting to fire Dooley. The loss to Vanderbilt left him unprepared and he is now in a situation he wasn't even ready for. Like many posted I believe the boosters have been doing the main negotiating. I'm afraid we are going to end up with another "Dooley" type hire unless they ante up.

I think for us to not have a confirmation, means we at least must be talking to a coach/coaches that are not currently coaching... could mean anyone, but Gruden is the only 1 adding up, I don't see Hart being that dumb, and I doubt he goes after Petrino, who else has been successful as a HC?

Oh, I think Hart has been looking for awhile now, and probably even had his candidate(s) lined up over a month ago.

You mean, he lost 5 straight games, and he wasn't prepared? I doubt that. Hart said last year he had to wait out a few days before talking to Dooley after the Kentucky game(I wish he would have just went off emotion), I think he has been unhappy all year despite what he says.

Mine keep telling me all is well too. Yet everyday the media sends everyone into a frenzy. This whole thing is starting to get out of hand. Hopefully it ends Friday.

This thing has been in the works since the spring. Just watch.

"Project Gruden" has been a Hart scheme for months. LONG before any one ever said to can Dooley.

"If you want to prove your worth, come to the SEC." Hart is proving his worth with this move. Watch it happen.

Reading between the lines, it only makes sense.

I'm telling you: no way on Petrino.

Oh, Hart has 1 chance at this, he definitely isn't gambling with Petrino, I know he isn't dumb. If he is going after a successful head coach, look at how fast the Miles debacle unfolded, took 1 day and it was on ESPN... we haven't talked to currently coaching coaches. I can't think of another coach that is unemployed that has had success as a HC, as he said he was looking for.
