It is amazing to me the lack of knowledge within the inner media circles...

I talked to two local reporters today and they told me they were 100% certain that the following was Hart's short list...

1. Jimbo Fisher
2. Butch Jones
3. Al Golden
4. Larry Fedora
5. Charlie Strong

And two other reporters in the area automatically chimed in and said they agreed...not a one of them has heard a single thing about Gruden...just goes to prove how tightly the info is being kept..

Did you go talk to Doc, Jeff and Heather at Long's?

Please stop begging these attention seeking posters that can't just post the info they claim to have without "teasing" the board first. It clearly is nothing but a way to gather attention toward themselves and should clearly show is the motive of the posters!!

I agree. Guys like Boro, Carter, Jay, Slice, OV, ect don't do this nonsense. They are straight up, and don't seek the attention.

Why would you interview golden? When he just promised he would still be at Miami next year!!

would you tell your boss that you are interested in another job, before you was 100% sure you had another job? Coaches are no different. They are never gonna admit they are interested in another job before they actually have that job.

Not necessarily. The assistant coaches and team performance all reflect on the head coach and how he is performing at his job. So it is very understandable that he wants people he trusts and thinks will do a good job on his staff..

Ok but very few recruits out there know who the assistant coaches are when they start looking at schools to go to. They only know the head coaches. Nobody knows who the positions coaches are at Alabama, all they know is NICK SABAN and 3 NATIONAL TITLES. This may be because they get swiped up to coach elsewhere all the time, but the truth is that recruits look at and care about the head coach. If recruits looked at our school and saw JON GRUDEN SUPERBOWL CHAMPION, a lot of them would put us in their top 3 regardless of who he has as assistants.

Just sniffing for information bro.

And by the way, are their posts any more 'attention getting' than the continuously negative posts coming from you?

Only a few people know besides Dave Hart and VolReporter. :birgits_giggle:

Thanks I didn't talk much, especially the second show when Rucker was there...it was funny Swain looked over at me and said "don't feel bad, this is my show and he barely lets me talk."

Sounds like things got a little heated today on the treece show. That guy jesse or whatever his name is.

The dude hasn't coached in college in 20 years. Things were a lot different then.

Haven't you ever accepted a job and spent the night before you started wondering if you made the right choice?

Will you do this right? Will you do that right?

I have no doubt that he wants to coach here, and I think he will really thrive, but it must be a little daunting to look at from the outside. So many rules, so many details, and frankly, all eyes will be on Gruden and UT.

He wants to come here to win. I don't think he needs 4.9 mill, and likely he won't actually need that. He just wants to make sure that there is no impediment to success. I have no problem with that.

I get that you are saying, I do. I am talking more about whether or not he actuallys WANTS the job, and isnt pressured by his wife or other factors. I get wanting to know he can recruit and be successful, I mean I would be hesitant if he was on the fence about wanting to be at UT. We need a coach who wants the job and the challenge. I dont disagree with your post, though

FTR, I tend to think that he wants job and that we are being led to believe he is hesitant and that this just came together when in fact it has been in works a long time(as many posters here have stated for weeks).

I don't think he just wants to win, he wants to be unscored upon. But really, those numbers are unbelievable to me... but then again, as much as the SEC brings in, you'd think since the only people they have on payroll is administration, with players for free(basically), it does seem to be reasonable to have competitive pay.

I understand. But bringing in....say an NFL guy to coach o-line for way more than a guy like Pittman would cost doesn't ensure he would do a better job. Again, the best example I can give is Monte Kiffin. I was all for giving the man his big pay day to come to UT under Lane. Turns out Chavis is a better COLLEGE DC for less money. That can be said for a lot of coaches. UT threw out a more than competitive amount for his assistants IMO. If he truly wants to be here, that's plenty nuff to get the job done.

Hey, this is what they said when Bama hired Saban. I don't think that anyone in Tuscaloosa wants a refund.

Not complaining and it will be a great investment. I'm just saying that if Gruden turns us down there are other coaches that would be interested other than the pitiful second tier coaches we're hearing about.

This is so untrue....position coaches do a major portion of the recruiting.....You are dead wrong
