Another text. This one from a father (who coached in the NFL) of a west coast college coach who was rumored to be on our radar.

McDad: u hear gru play off the Q about UT on Mike n Mike?

Mora: What’s that? Ah — Playoffs? Don’t talk about — playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs?

McDad: u mad, bro?

Guess he was having a bad day, or something, because he didn't reply.

Until UT comes out and gives an emphatic "We are not pursuing Jon Gruden", just relax and roll with it. There has been much said that Gruden is due one more check from the Glaziers. He was pretty ticked when he was let go by them. There's no way that he's going to miss out on bleeding every cent possible from the incident. I would do the same. While understandably unsettling, the Mike & Mike interview can't be viewed as an emphatic repudiation of this deal. Think about it. He's doing a phone interview. He is still owed a large check dependent on not having a coaching job. He gave pretty much the only answer he could. He's not going confirm anything during a phone interview. He can't say 'no comment' or he fuels the fire more. By all accounts, he loves UT and many people associated with the university. He would quietly tell those involved in the search that he is not interested. It was a no-win situation for him. It sounded like he was genuinely perturbed at the question.

You attempted to analyze Gruden's record as a head coach in Tampa Bay and how that would translate to college football. Maybe you should compare Saban, Spurrier, and Gruden's time in the NFL.

College players would like to play for a NFL caliber coach. Therefore, Gruden at TN would be the best possible outcome for our program.

Haslam was player in beginning planted rumor in beginning he was part of the play with gruden..aka browns offer...now browns offer has been denied by all parties involved...Haslam has be cut free from negotiations..now Hart is man in charge..negotiating with cjg..announcement pending???? Ts alljmo about perception

So could we not hire Charlie Weiss or Butch Davis? Don't both of them have super bowl rings? :)

If that's all it takes to win in the SEC, let's get it done. :eek:lol:

I would think there are alot of HC's or Assistants on the college level that were assitants in the NFL and may have won a super bowl at some point.

Sorry if speculation has already occurred on this subject, but does anyone think Fisher could possibly be in the fold? Both of his coordinators are gone, correct? The way Hart is handling this leads me to believe that he has his coach. Based on the info that's been confirmed, it logically appears to be Gruden or Fisher. Just wondering if anyone else had this thought. SN: I believe it's Gruden, but considering all of the circumstances, Fisher wouldn't be a complete shock to me.

Absolutely, I was just saying I have seen so many media people say like for sure he wants to be in the NFL and is heading back there. These guys know nothing. Think he's a Vol he had his chance to say no he wasnt interested.

Boro stated that IF Fisher took another coaching job it would be Auburn IF the money was right, if not he would stay at FSU.
