Gruden's MNF contract goes well past the end of this season's broadcasts. I don't think that's it.

And I still haven't heard any reason why he couldn't be announced as UT's next head coach, and still finish the remainder of the year with ESPN.

Agreed. The only thing is maybe the rumor of Jon Gruden wanted a certain period of time between when Dooley is fired and when he's hired just out of respect to Dooley.

Serious question for the OG's, is there a "drop dead" date when you would start to reconsider Jon Gruden being locked up or will you be sold on Gruden until another coach is hired or you catch wind of another candidate?

I wish Al could be a coach. Unfortunately, as I understand, you have to have some type of degree. He never did complete his and therefore he's not allowed to coach.

Patterson and Strong would be higher on the list in my opinion. If Gruden falls through, prying Patterson from TCU would be great. David Shaw is who I would go after, he's probably a pipe dream though.

Yep.....Hart missed his chance. He'll be back to a budget hire. The booster money offer for Gruden will be withdrawn. I think Hart will end up removing 40000 seats out of Neyland to give it the full look.

Yeah. Big Will does bring some good info. I believe he was referring to Quick when talking about a receiver currently going to Louisville that would come here if Gruden is the coach.

There isn't a time where they can't contact recruits. There is one where in person contact can't be made. Iirc it starts the 17th
