Oh, sorry. I missed that. I am all worked up this morning.:)

On that note, hiring Gruden is not just getting a coach, but it is a statement.

It immediately puts the Tennessee brand back out there.

If, by some crazy chance, he didn't do well, then we would still be better off.

Kiffin bolting and then hiring Dooley made us look like a second tier school.

If Gruden accomplishes anything here, it will be to make people forget about all that.

This. UT is damn near irrelevant anything that boosts the schools profile is a good thing

Dont forget that other schools - Texas, NC State, Auburn, Miami, etc etc --- plenty of recruits to gather from those lists given uncertainty.

:eek:lol:

Yeah, the NFL loves the spread option and 3-2-6 defensive alignments.

He's not coaching in the NFL. Period. Ever.

...and if he did by some chance coach in the NFL it wouldn't be for long.

Again, turned down an NFL gig last year. This is a fact. He will be coaching in the NFL.

You can't say he won't be coaching in the NFL, period, ever, then two sentences later say "Well, he might, but it won't last...." Pick a story and stick with it.

How does 'if he did' mean 'he might'...?

Reading is fundamental.

That's a good place for a dunce.

If that's the case, I've got a whole lot of company....

Nice post there Richard Head.

So, lemme get this straight, it's not allowed to post a differing opinion in here?? Every time I have, I get called names.....whoda thunk it??

Because Gruden is crap. Let me count the ways. Oh, wait, I already did that. See below (*andy's post*)

Deus = ignore

And another one bites the dust. Goodbye, lemming.

I haven't taken the time to read many of your posts. Although why would Gruden not be a good hire? I am curious on what your gut tells you on why he wouldnt cut it?

Since you were honest, didn't call names, and were polite, I'll do this for you. The rest of y'all might wanna take a second and read this. They're called FACTS, and they're pretty darned hard to argue with.

What gig did he turn down and why?

He is not a defensive guy he could hire a DC to run a prostyle defense. He also could tweak his offense and slow it down to be successful in the NFL. But fact of the matter is I dont have a clue if he will ever coach the NFL and would bet my life savings you dont know either. And that is 100% a fact. But its definitely possible.

Are you guys really arguing about Chip Kelly going pro?

Seriously?

So I was texting with a former player friend of mine, who will remain unnamed;

I was joking that he knew it was Gruden or who the coach is going to bed, and he said that he has heard stuff but he cannot say anything or comment on anything with only half information.

Never claimed to have inside sources and I have held off completely but I firmly believe this will happen. I am on the phone now having a discussion from somone in the know. I am about to leave the office for the day but I will leave with this... it is done and will be announced Friday. The media is apart of this in specific circles and have been asked to spin it is at best and will not part take in the vent afterwards if leaked, they will be ruined at TN if so. This explained a lot of Hubbs wish-washyness. My contact has very reliable sources and has mirrored everything Boro has been stating.

You are about to witness the biggest hire in NCA history and the best marketing ploy by our beloved university. I truly believe this individual and rarely have need to talk to him back home untl recently. It is done!

Exactly. Dude saying it will never happen is absolutely wrong. He will have a chance to coach in the NFL if he chooses.
