i hope not just asking, if Gruden came here to TN and layed a egg, how many of us would call for Harts head, no matter who he hires they win hes loved, they loose hes gone..

I wouldn't begrudge Hart. It's the right thing to do, and if it didn't work out, then it didn't work out. I wouldn't blame him for that.

Awww, come on guys, don't be like that!!! Jon Gruden will be Coach of the MILLENNIUM at Tennessee!!! I apologize for all the bad things I've said about him!!! Please come and save us, King Jon!!!

Yup, still not true. Gruden's a toolbox, and would ruin the UT football program.

I would not. Gruden is the lead candidate per the fan base, and it would be obvious that Hart busted his a$$ to get it done. Home run hire, and if shows he could land hire over how many other NFL and college jobs, you gotta keep Hart.

if you believe this, you're completely delusional. I'm just having fun at your expense, since I think all Grudenites are special-needs people......

You know what, you guys?? I've read every post in Gruden 1-11, and you've convinced me. J.D. Gruden is the man that will bring Tennessee football back to prominence, and I have realized the error of my ways. I want to join the Grudenite majority, I'm sick and tired of being on the outside of the cool kid group. Please come to Tennessee, Coach Gruden. Your Vol family welcomes you with open arms.

God, that was hard to type......#grudenisstillGARBAGE

Special needs? That's a tad harsh, but you have a right to your opinion, I suppose.

Johnny has but not sure about Phil. Kinda doubt it.

If Peyton is involved to the extent many believe, it would surprise me if he has not sought Fulmer's opinion given how close Peyton and Philip are. The control issues are something Fulmer felt very strongly about as needing to be changed.

Agree completely, I mean if Hubbs reported Hart told him that, which is what people have been saying would end speculation.

But that's all it would take, and Hart hasn't done that. He would if Gruden were off the table to avoid the pollution from mattress smoke when a letdown occurs.

Can't someone just hack Hart's phone in his office and cell phone. This suspense is killing me. I'm assuming the jet's still grounded?

Mainly because if he comes out and is dishonest about pursuing Gruden and says some BS hire was his first choice then he is setting that coach up for failure. Every UT call in show on TV and radio are all Gruden, I would say 75% or more of the fan base thinks this most likely could happen.

Without addressing it, when whomever the coach is, goes 6-6 or 5-7 next year they will not get a pass, seats will be empty again but worse, and we will be talking about this again. At least if it doesn't happen, and either Gruden announces it or the AD addresses it at least whomever they have to settle for has a chance to get fan support. Ignore it and they may have a full on revolt in their hands.

Hart is not traveling, not showing any urgency, and acting like a guy that knows what is about to happen. I remain confident it is Gruden, but equally confident if it ends up not being him it will get addressed by either he, UT, or both very soon.

I think the deal is done, whether with Gruden or somebody else. If it is not Gruden, my money is on a back channel deal already worked out with Mora Jr. No sources. Just what my gut is telling me.

Not sure if it applies or not. If he is a non-NFL coach inquiring about a non-NFL coaching positions, the tampering rules should IMO not be considered.

Only if he is discussing NFL coaching positions, regardless of his coaching status, would they come in to play.

As long as they're discussing college coaching jobs they're fine, and it's been reported that Gruden spoke to Raheem Morris, a current NFL coach, so I assume that means the job discussed was a non-NFL position.

Okay...

You do understand the concepts of budgets and simple NCAA rules, right? Phil Knight is a booster just like any other booster who happens to use his alma mater as some sort of apparel side show.

You guys are unreal sometimes.

That's not a pro football team. It's a university. They have to follow the same rules as everyone else.
Right, but Oregon has as much money as anyone in the game, because their #1 booster is one of the wealthiest men in the country. Not to mention his money comes from the largest sports brand, which is kind of a big deal to kids.

The point being, and money we think we have can be easily matched by Oregon. He isn't going to come to TN to get paid because he isn't at Oregon.

I would.

The only way I don't bail on Hart is if multiple sources say that and NFL team outbid us.

Otherwise, there is no reason that we should miss on this.

They must make Gruden say no. There are way to many openings and we will end up overpaying for a crap coach and be no better off than we were.

There really is no viable alternative now that Stoops has withdrawn his name from the hat.
