Official Jon Gruden Thread XI

Attention Vol Fans. If you tuned into MNF tonight and think you hear Gruden, you do BUT MNF had him record the play by play earlier today so Gruden could have dinner in Knoxville with Hart and the Escalade gang. Sleep good tonight -announcement for sure coming tomorrow or sometime after that.
Sad part is, a lot of Grudenites probably believe this. Our chances of Gruden is dwindling fast.

I feel like that would have to be an NCAA or Tennessee Statute but I can't find the statute. Not that I did an exhaustive search, but I did try briefly.

If it's not an NCAA thing, it'd almost certainly be a state administrative rule rather than a statute. I would check but it's not really relevant, as many administrative rules have lots of "outs" and alternate rules depending on the circumstances.

If something positive about all this does you come out tomorrow....I think Gruden is out! However, I don't think he is out. They just had to get past this MNF game first!

I've had a lot of laughs today off this thread, especially seeing how the whole Dilfer replacing Gruden tonight thing took off. Man isn't the Vol Nation a little edgy and grasping for straws.

The Vol nation needs to relax this will happen. I think everyone got so caught up in things today you all missed something very important.

Today it was reported that Governor Haslam said he doesn't have a recommendation on Dooley's replacement and said how much the new coach gets paid shouldn't be up to the governor. So why is this important. Two reasons. First his family is being tied to this hire and secondly and more importantly he knows this is done and people are going to go crazy on the salary (remember not everyone in the state is a UT fan or even a football fan). He as a politician is having to distance himself from the money aspect of this hire, meaning an announcement is forthcoming.

Great first post.:good!:..you are correct I missed this new completely...

That thread can start next week if this ends in heartbreak

I don't know when it should start. I thought the rumor of him not broadcasting would definitely bode well for us, but that fell through. Like most things, I think this is done, Hart has his guy and it's not Gruden.

I will say that the governor would be very interested in not having his involvement with a hire being made before a job came open becoming public knowledge. That would cause him significant political issues and maybe even legal issues IMO.

Im sure daddy was doing the heavy lifting there along with a handful of others.

I actually agree with your general idea. If this goes down like I think it will, it will be perceived that Hart pulled a rabbit out of the hat.

In all seriousness I texted a friend of mine that I know has Dr Punch on speed dial after his comments on the radio. He said he spoke to him before he went on the air and he knows nothing. TIFWIW.

So he purposefully discredited himself on the air? That doesn't make any sense.
